Gosnell is not an outier

Worse than I thought. The reality is that since so few doctors do abortions at all, much less late term abortions, the doctors willing to perform them are those who are the lower level of skill and standards of care.

Yet PP and others fight tooth and nail to require any standards of doctors performing what is very invasive surgery. Lots of people were shocked that Gosnell wasn’t a trained ob-gyn. And in New York they are so desperate to keep abortion mills open they are trying to enact legislation to allow non-physician practitioners to perform abortions!

These cases have made me wonder at the thought processes of the women. If a pregnancy is unplanned, it would seem the woman knows this immediately. What happens that a woman carries a baby five or six months…or more, and THEN decides to kill the baby? How is she benefitting from this act? At this point if someone could counsel the woman to continue the pregnancy for a couple more months and provide adoption assistance if she does not want to keep the child, it would seem like fewer women would go through this procedure. As we’ve seen from Gosnell, the procedure is painful, risky and hardly different than carrying the child to full term where the body naturally proceeds to give birth. Forcing a birth with laminaria and in effect yanking the baby out seems far more painful than a natural process.

Have any of the prolife activists or groups done interviews and learned what made women take this step so far along?

Thank you for expressing my thoughts, exactly. I wonder what goes on in the heads of these women? Why does it take so long for them to make the decision to abort?

I suspect the profit motive figures in here somewhere. I wonder if someone in the system is waiting until vulnerable women are second trimester to put pressure on them to abort because later abortions are more profitable? Not being an American I don’t know the system that well. Could someone address this? I’d appreciate it.

PS there are essentially no abortion law in Canada and it’s very difficult to get statistics.

Yes this is the irony. These late term abortionists charge huge amounts of money. Yet it is said that the women choose abortion because they can’t afford another baby (of course there is adoption but obviously this is not part of the discussion). I read the testimony of the children whose mother was killed by Gosnell. I believe it was the daughter who said that her mom felt they could not afford another child. Yet it cost THOUSANDS of dollars to procure the abortion. This is not something paid by insurance or MedicAid. If the families can raise the money, why can they not afford the child? Further there is a lot of social services for mothers and children in this country. No baby is going to be left on the streets to die here.

I wish there were a way to force abortionists to provide counselling and options. You are right it is a case of follow the money. Planned Parenthood has the means and resources to provide counselling for adoption or keeping the child. But they only make money from abortion…hence 300,000 abortions per year and something like 5000 adoption referrals! And this is SURGICAL abortions, not giving the Morning After Pills or other non surgical methods. If an unborn baby enters a PP clinic, chances are he or she will exit in the medical waste bin

BTW on a related note, a pro life group was denied non profit status if it failed to provide ABORTION counselling! It’s clear there is a political agenda at work in the IRS as well.

I saw some reference in one of the abortion-related online videos I viewed recently about there being funds in the U.S. that will grant $ for abortions? Perhaps these moms or the clinics are claiming $ from them?

No probably referring to the financial government support of Planned Parenthood. The late term abortions are very likely to be self funded. MedicAid and insurance not likely to pay, and particularly when the abortion is illegal due to the stage of pregnancy.

At the end of the day abortion mills are all the same since they all murder babies.
