**Thieves ransack Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corktown
**
The Rev. Russ Kohler, longtime pastor of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Detroit’s Corktown, spent part of Tuesday searching pawn shops and antique stores for cherished artifacts and holy vessels that were stolen from one of Detroit most-recognized and historic churches.

Thieves broke into Most Holy Trinity sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning. The parish janitor alerted Kohler, who theorizes the thieves lit candlesticks in the church to illuminate their ransacking – and then took the candlesticks with them, too.

There has been a number of these lately in the Detroit area.

This is so sad. The really unfortunate thing is that they will probably break up the stuff and sell it to a scrap metal recycler.

I hate to sound to harsh, but the stuff is probably long gone by now, and quite probably won’t be found. So there is not much use getting in a tizzy of that

What is however, is the fact that they stole the Tabernacle and Ciboria, which means that the Eucharist held inside has probably in some way been defamed and mistreated. Please say a prayer for this

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore thee profoundly. I offer thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of thee the conversion of poor sinners.

That stinks 😦

I know that parish well. My father is a ‘retired’ physician who now regularly volunteers at the free clinic run by that parish, and I’ve helped set up the parish and clinic computer systems.

Another area parish was broken into a few years ago. They did recover the tabernacle and the vessels. The theives ate the Hosts as they were hungry.

I hope that similar circumstances happen here.
