There are things maybe want to consider in the overcoming of scruples. I’ve had a lot of direction from different people, and all helpful.
  1. “God doesn’t end relationships”; we do.
  2. “You can’t control everything”
  3. A lot of sources can help, but you need to choose the appropriate kinds; eg, a psychologist won’t always have the answers about “sin” issues. Priests, sisters, and well-informed lay people can help with that.
  4. Find your director from a reliable source; church, diocese, another person who goes as well; etc.
  5. If you find out the director’s not respecting why you came, look for another person.
  6. Since the idea behind scrupulosity is “perfection”, you’re not going to find it through repetitive confessions. Or anyway else. Things are done to please God, but the methods aren’t working.
  7. Everyone is looking for “peace of mind” in their faith as Catholics, and scrupulosity doesn’t bring it.
  8. "perfection " is a pointless goal on our part, since only God is perfect. We can’t be. God “perfects” us His way.
  9. Learn the meanings of figurative language in the gospels. It helps also to know what Jesus didn’t mean; for example, “Don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing”- it doesn’t mean that we have to withhold all good deeds we do.
  10. Be guided by the Holy Spirit in determining whether your guilty of commiting sin.

This was very helpful, thx
