Prayer is invalidated by a woman, a donkey or a dog; that may be prevented by something equal in height to the back of a saddle [placed in front of the worshipper as a sutrah or screen].” (Narrated by Muslim, 511).

If he knows without doubt that wind has passed, then he should leave the prayer. However, if he is in doubt but is not certain, then he should not leave unless he becomes certain–by hearing the wind pass or smelling it. If he finds that he has passed wind, he should leave; otherwise he should pay no attention to it.

Presence of najaasah (impurity) on one’s body or clothes, or in the place where one is praying invalidates the prayer.

Deliberately doing an extra pillar, such as bowing.

Deliberately doing some pillars before others.

Deliberately saying the salaam before completing the prayer.

My question is : why would Allah reject a prayer because of a woman, donkey, dog, passing wind, external impurity and the rest of stuff? is Allah affected by these things or is it the human? and in what way.

I think passing gas is considered impure in Islam. And if you look at any photograph of Muslims bowing to Mecca, you’ll know why.

There is a video on youtube, I didn’t bookmark it so can’t link (not that I think any of you would want to), taken by a muslim in a mosque at prayer time. In front of him was another muslim who was wearing track pants, however they were split in the crutch.

Now that in itself is not so bad, I guess, however … he wasn’t wearing underpants.

Hmmmm, I guess a male exposing his genitals isn’t mentioned in the qur’an or hadiths as invalidating prayer. 🤷

Off topic sorry but need to do this…

Eucharisted - I’ve been reading your posts but never once looked at your links. I read your blog. Very touching and heart felt story and I loved the video…

Just wanted to share my thoughts with you…

Be blessed and have a great day!

the rule on this is that if he exposed them without knowing, the prayer is not invalidated.

OK, you guys just had to make me cry!

Eucharisted, I read your conversion story a while back, but didn’t see the video. Very touching! And the song is one of my favorites. We had it played at both my FIL’s funeral (1999) and my Mom’s funeral (2007) and it never fails to make me cry. :bighanky: (Which is always interesting when I’m working a funeral and they play this song! :o )

May God bless both of you. :signofcross:

Edit: Sorry, inJesus that I continued off topic

passing gaz without knowing it does not invalidate the prayer…but i just do not understand the logic behind any prayer being invalidated so why? does it affect Allah in anyway if a donkey passed infront of someone praying? or does it affect the person?or what is it exactly?

Allah not being present in certain places, like for example the restroom. Why? does it affect Allah in any way or what is it exactly? i can find lists but i cannot find reasons except for the dog thing since a black dog is the devil according to Muhammad so am not sure about the ruling regarding a white dog.

Islamic prayer is automatically invalid as it’s not addressed to the REAL God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer is invalidated by a woman…is Allah affected by these things .
normally Muslims ( both men & women ) don’t walk in front of anther Muslim who is praying . It will disturb him/her , may distract the attention from prayer .

Salat is a kind of meeting with God. When we are standing in front of our Creator , we wash ourselves & make sure that there is no unclean things in our clothes , in place where we will offer salat / prayers.

If we don’t do this , if we stop praying , there is no harm for God …we will be the losers in this world & in hereafter.

Thank you, jakasaki. Every time someone says they read my posts or my blog, they remind me I must be charitable. 🙂

… does this apply to anything that walks infront of a Muslim or just women, dogs and donkeys?
we ( both men & women ) will try to avoid walking in front of a person who is offering Salat. If we do that , we will be guilty but his/her prayer won’t become invalid. Also , never heard that if any donkey passed by , prayer will be invalid. May be , Prophet advised to do salat in a place where one can’t be disturbed . Such as , when in public if I need to offer salat , I will do that in a corner so that others don’t have to walk in front of me.
which means other parts could be unclean right?
after close intimacy with spouse , it’s a must to take shower. Other time , abolution is enough for cleanliness. If one’s body is touched by urine , stool , s/he must wash it .
ok so nothing of this affects God, then why does anything invalidate a prayer?
Remembering God is for our own salvation . We must do it correctly for our own sakes ; so that on the Final Day , we can be rewarded.

If we have time for eating ,sleeping , watching TV , browsing etc etc ; what’s the problem if we make time for prayers & be conscious to offer it as God’s chosen Prophets showed us ? btw , in Bible , there are verses that say Prophets washed / cleaned themselves before entering the prayer room.
What about Allah not being present in the toilet for example?
before entering to toilet , after coming from toilet , Muslims do offer dua/supplication . It does not mean God is living in toilet or He can’t live in there. What’s your point here ?

God has knowledge about everything . He does not need to come inside the toilet to see what we are doing.
Allah cannot “enter” such places, is that right?
I think , it’s out of respect , people say this . Why u think , God needs to enter toilet ?

With predestination in islam why bother?

Funny that god never made a peep out of all that cleaning in the thousands of years previous. Could it be that mohammed was a really dirty guy?

Why don’t you go find the hadith where this was mentioned in front of Aisha (raa) and see what she said about it?
