*Some people want to return to the Latin Mass, right? And they have been vocal enough about it so that the new Pope is willing to give them their way? *
Well, pope Benedict has not simply been forced to do that, he very much believs in the importance and value of tradition. But he also believs in the value of the reformed liturgy.
However, if the old Pope changed the Mass I’m sure he had his reasons and I just figured that a Catholic would have to comply or not be a Catholic anymore. I’m afraid that this
might cause a schism in the Catholic church and that would not be good for anyone.
Ah yes, the big question: why did the pope do it? It’s a mystery for many.
There has been a schism actually, although not on a super large scale. It has nevertheless hurt the Church. Things are getting sorted out with one of the groups (SSPX) which is a blessing.
