If you frequently think that things that are not sinful are sinful, perhaps you should talk to your priest about scruples

you need to keep seeing your priest. This is not a one time situation, it is an ongoing discernment to help you deal with your inability to judge sin.

I think this is very normal, especially if you are used to eating meat! I suppose whether it becomes a sin is to what degree you indulge lustful and craving thoughts. Jesus said lusting after a woman was committing adultery in your heart, so perhaps the same principle can be applied to other fleshly cravings?

How can we learn which thoughts need to be captured if we don’t discover them in our own minds and hearts?

No, it isn’t. It is anticipation of good things to come.

My priest mentioned to me on Wednesday that he’s been dreaming about sausage. He hasn’t had meat since Lent began.
 
so this is where Col 2:16-17 comes in. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

The one who eats everything must not belittle the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him.

Romans 14:5
One man regards a certain day above the others, while someone else considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
