Third Secret of Faitma

For those of you who don’t already know me, I was raised in a Traditionalist household (I grew up going to an independent chapel). And part of the Traditionalist message that I was raised includes the popular belief (held by SSPX’ers and Sedevacantists) and by big figures like Fr. Nicholar Gruner and Fr. Paul Kramer that the Third Secret of Fatima has not been fully revealed, the Pope has not yet consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of our Blessed Mother, and that the Vatican is keeping it hidden away from the faithful. I always wondered why they would want to do that. Some say it’s because the “real” Third Secret of Fatima had nothing to do with the chaos of the 20th century or the Pope being beheaded, but rather it was about the Second Vatican Council and the horrors that it was to bring into the Church. Some confirm their belief based on that fact that Sr. Lucia was told by our Blessed Mother to reveal the third secret on a certain date (I forget the exact date however) in the year 1960 and on that specific date in 1960, Bl. Pope John XXIII announced that the Second Vatican Council was going to open soon. However, Sr. Lucia herself said that the Holy Father Bl. Pope John Paul II had truly consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary with all the Bishops of the world in 1984 and she even said that it was done just in time to prevent a horrific atomic war. I don’t know if this next claim is very common, but some Sedevacantists (namely the Most Holy Family Monks of Fillmore, NY) say that that wasn’t the real Sr. Lucia who confirmed JPII’s consecration, but rather it was an impostor sent by the “Modernists” to fool the Church that the Third Secret of Fatima had nothing to do with Vatican II. They brought up pictures that show how different Sr. Lucia looked in the 1930’s as opposed to the 1980’s (well no duh you’re going to look different as you age) and they brought up said “dialogue” with other clergy where Sr. Lucia was contradicting what she had previously said years earlier about the Third Secret.

Has the Third Secret been fully revealed? Does it say anything about an endtimes apostasy in the Church? Was there EVER an imposter Sr. Lucia?

From what I have read, the substitution of Sr Lucia was alleged after a magazine or newspaper incorrectly labeled one of its photographs. I do not know if those who allege the substitution have more evidence, but as I understand it, that was the beginning of the problem and was simply an error in a publication.

There does seem to be evidence that the Third Secret was not released in its entirety.

But I would ask you, why worry about this? I believe Fatima is important, bit there is nothing we can do about Sr Lucia and the Third Secret, and these things are not essential to our faith.

I spent a couple of years trying to sort out the ultra-Traditionalist ideas and it was not good for my spiritual life. I became very suspicious and untrusting. Christ promised that the Holy Ghost would protect the Church, and I just rely on that and try to stick to parishes in which the priest sticks to Church teaching.

Don’t worry about all this, just be a good Catholic and stay close to Christ.

I would not believe anything that the Sedevacantists say with reference to the Catholic Church. At the risk of being uncharitable, they are not only scismatic, but they border on heresy in the same way that Martin Luther did in his early years.
Like many other Catholic Scismatics, this group of people will die out in a few years, especially when their funding runs out.
No order of monks or other religious group can survive without general public support, which these people do not have. By and large, they are financially supported by wealthy donors who have personal axes to grind with Holy Mother The Church.
The Old Catholic Church and the Polish National Catholic Church are good examples of this.

Our Lady made the requests before the Second World War, and said that that war would be averted if the Consecration were made. So we would have had peace instead of WW2 had the Consecration occurred when she asked.

I do agree with you except I just wanted to say that when Our Lady of Fatima said that Russia wasn’t a communist country yet and even though Russia fell communism has continued to spread its errors. I’m not sure of all the details but I believe people were supposed to pray the rosary also to stop the spread of communism.

I do agree with you except I just wanted to say that when Our Lady of Fatima said that Russia wasn’t a communist country yet and even though Russia fell communism has continued to spread its errors. I’m not sure of all the details but I believe people were supposed to pray the rosary also to stop the spread of communism.

Czar Nicholas abdicated in March, 1917, two months or so before Our Blessed Mother appeared in May, 1917, and the Revolution formally ended in November, 1917, about one month after Our Lady’s last appearance on October, 13, 1917.
