Africa: Archbishops Leave for Europe to Urge Debt Cancellation

Lusaka - Three African archbishops are among church leaders who have travelled to Europe to push for debt cancellation, as part of a campaign tour for greater global justice, arranged prior to the conference of the Group of Eight (G-8) in Scotland the first week of July 2005.
“Five senior Catholic Church leaders, including Archbishop Medardo Mazombwe of Lusaka, are meeting this week with the leaders of Germany, Britain and France,” Fr Paul Samasumo, the Secretary for Communication at the Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) told CISA in statement dated May 24, 2005.
