CC thought this movie was a clunker! Ha! First comedy to win Best Picture; first movie to sweep the Big Five (Picture, Director, Actress, Actor, Screenplay).

Last night I watched Peyton Place. I think it was nominated for 9 Oscars! I hadn’t seen it in a long time. It was pretty good. I never cared for the tv show. It wasn’t on TCM, but Movies on our antenna tv.

I remember seeing this film when I was in sixth grade and being shocked!!

I’m not really sure what all the fuss was about Lana Turner (as I mentioned previously). Russ Tamblyn is in it. What a different character than Riff was in West Side Story.

I am not sure what year it was made, but very mature material for that day and age.

the storyline of Peyton Place was very mature for 1957. I guess they were preparing for what was about to take place in the 1960’s!

Wasn’t Tamblyn in 7 Brides for 7 Brothers also? Not sure if he was in other musicals? Oklahoma?
