This can be really annoying?

It really annoys me when I read or watch things where people are mocking or making fun of Jesus or Mary for example on Facebook or Twitter. It’s the same if I’m watching TV and they happen to mock the Catholic faith it just really annoys me and sometimes I think about it for ages. The thing is some of the twitter or Facebook comments are from Catholics themselves and think it’s ok to mock Jesus. I am wondering does others feel this way? Or should I take the approach of ignoring things like this?

No, it’s everywhere and when somebody we love is mocked it is hard to stand there and let them take it. How much more so with God Himself. I live in the UK and anti-Catholicism is in the very marrow of many people here. However when it comes to Muslims and Jews these same people are most careful and pc. I worry sometimes that I will get used to it and not notice any more. You are quite right to be upset.

I also live in the UK and like ancailindeas said, many people are very anti-Catholicism and I have had many people, to my face, tell me their thoughts on Catholicism.

About 2 days ago, I got lots of hate on Twitter because they made comments on the Pope. I asked then to have some more tolerance and respect and it ended after 2 hours of hate on my age and vocation. We love all things Catholic ESPECIALLY GOD!

I think it annoys all of us. But you should learn to train yourself not to get angry. Don’t engage these people in arguments. They are fools and that is their foolishness.

You can try and offer correction, but if they won’t accept it, you can pray for the person.

I know how you feel I’ve struggled with that a lot. I love Jesus and I love my Catholic faith and it bothers me how people talk about it so poorly especially as I learn more and more about what the Church has done and is doing to make our world a better place. It is human nature that people make up stuff when they don’t know about something…In this case they don’t know God or the Church so are lacking understanding. I found it good to pray for peace in my soul when I can’t let it go. And I remember certain scriptures off the top of my head…Jesus said if they hated Him they will hate you. and Do not be afraid for I am with you… and I try not to be offended because I believe I have something good going with God and they’re not part of that so I actually feel for them as I try not to be offended…

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

But always pray for peace in your soul if you feel bad or offended and you will find that peace… God bless you… And a final word…Jesus wants you to feel GOOD so don’t let people spoil your mood…

I don’t think it’s helpful, Therese, to be upset about it for too long. Pray for those souls who do such thing and move on, my friend.

I stay far away from facebook and twitter and don’t feel like I’m missing much, but definitely some good Catholics should be there fighting the good fight and making a way of the New Evangelization.
