Hi Andruschak…I am sure that The Lord and Our Lady would look very understandingly on your desires and the restrictions that you do experience due to work and would count your Vigil Mass Saturday Evening as instinsic to the First Saturday Devotions to Our Lady…BarbI usually get home from work at midnight. I need about two hours to relax and unwind, before going to bed at 2 AM. I do some prayers and devotions between Midnight and 2 AM of course. That’s how I unwind andrelax.
But to attend the first Friday and Saturday masses would require me to get up no later then 7:30 AM and be in Church by 8 AM. Some months I have been unable to do this, like last month, requireing me to re-start from Month #1.
On those Saturdays that I do not have to work overtime at the Post Office, I can attend the Vigil masses on Saturday evening, but I am not sure if this mass, with Sunday’s readings, would count towards a first Saturday mass![]()
Saturday vigil Masses count - they simply need to occur on Saturday, there’s no specification as to which readings they must have (in fact I believe it’s phrased in terms of ‘receiving Communion’ rather than going to Mass anyways, which makes it totally clear)I usually get home from work at midnight.
