Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We have come to the last 3 paragraphs of Chap. 17 in “The Love of Eternal Wisdom”. I can only post 2 paragraphs today due to the word limit set by CAF, so God willing, I hope to post the final beautiful paragraph #223, tomorrow.

Immediately after this last chapter, St. Louis de Montfort concludes his book with his prayer of Total Consecration to Jesus through the Hands of Mary. God willing, I’ll post that Consecration prayer Monday, feast of St. Martha (July 29). If it goes beyond word limits, I’ll post a link to it, so you can read the whole of it at once, and ponder it or pray it renewing your first Consecration or if the Holy Spirit should inspire you to pray with your whole heart, soul mind and strength, then pray it as you hear Him guiding you – really meaning to live your Consecration, by God’s grace. Let none of us, merely say words, for as St. Louis wrote: our Total Consecration is a perfect renewal of our Baptismal promises.

Here are 2 paragraphs from end of Chap. 17; paragraph # 223 to follow tomorrow, God willing:
  1. This devotion, if well practised, not only draws Jesus Christ, Eternal Wisdom, into our soul, but also makes it agreeable to Him and He remains there to the end of our life. For, I ask you, what would be the good of searching for secrets of finding divine Wisdom and of making every effort to possess this treasure, if after acquiring it, we were, like Solomon, to have the misfortune to lose it by our unfaithfulness? Solomon was wiser than we perhaps shall ever be, and consequently stronger and more enlightened. He went astray, was overcome by temptation, and fell into sin and folly. Thus he left to all those who came after him a double source of wonderment, that he should be so enlightened and still not see; so wise and still be so foolish in his sins. We can say that, if his example and writings have moved so many who came after him to desire and seek Wisdom, the example of his fall - a fact, as far as we can judge - has kept multitudes of souls from effectively going after something which, although priceless, could easily be lost.
  2. To be then in some way wiser than Solomon, we should place in Mary’s care all that we possess and the treasure of all treasures, Jesus Christ, that she may keep Him for us. We are vessels too fragile to contain this precious treasure, this heavenly manna. We are surrounded by too many cunning and experienced enemies to trust in our own prudence and strength. And we have had too many sad experiences of our fickleness and natural thoughtlessness. Let us be distrustful of our own wisdom and fervour.
Come Holy Spirit, fill us as you filled Mary with Jesus, Who is Eternal Wisdom!

Dear Margaret Ann,

Thanks so much for your “heart” letting us know that you read and appreciated St. Louis de Montfort’s words. I hope you will read more – if you have not been reading the threads on this book, “The Love of Eternal Wisdom”. You can click on the title which will take you to the online version, or you can purchase a relatively inexpensive copy of his small book, click HERE

Today is Saturday, “Mary’s Day”! 🙂 For centuries now the Catholic Church has had saints who preached and taught us how important Mary is in God’s Plan. I believe St. Louis de Montfort has been read for over two hundred years and is read today because of God’s Will to have us understand more fully, by the power of His Holy Spirit, sent to bring us into all Truth - Who is Jesus, revealed to us in Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium of the Church. One of the reasons I appreciate St. Louis de Montfort is because he refers so consistently to God’s Word, and does not rely on his own “opinion” as many writers can do.

Come Holy Spirit, enlighten our minds and strengthen us to hear and do the Truth we hear. Jesus we trust in You! Mary, Mother of Jesus, Who is Eternal Wisdom and our Way, our Truth and our Life, pray for us.

Martin Luther was said to have confessed his sins and then felt like he had to go right back into confession again.

He probably had OCD. But he was right to mistrust himself.

How wonderful that Jesus not only gives Himself to us in the Eucharist, but that he inspires us to ask Mary to keep Jesus in us, so that we may be completely one with Him.

We can’t trust ourselves. But we can completely trust our Immaculate, Blessed Mother!

Dear patricius,

Only God knows the heart of Martin Luther, but I wonder if he prayed with Supernatural Faith, Hope and above all Charity. It seems to me God as a loving Father will not refuse a child who continually asks for His Mercy. Today’s Gospel from Luke gives us the Truth, as Jesus taught His disciples how to pray.

Your and I know well, and I hope more and more persons will learn that we cannot “trust” ourselves for we are merely human persons and our adversary satan has an angelic intellect. He is cunning and knows how to tempt us. We need to resist him, remaining steadfast in the Supernatural Faith given to us at Baptism. That is why St. Louis de Montfort tells us that Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary is a perfect renewal of our Baptism. If we practise this devotion well, we will have God’s strength and Mary’s powerful intercession to safeguard us. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, MariaChristi, we are to be like little children. So we are safe if we take refuge in Our Mother, the Refuge of Sinners.
