Nice write-up about the filmmaker who is only 24 years old.

"Brian Ivie, 24, grew up dreaming about making a film that would compete at Sundance Film Festival. When he stumbled on a 2011 Los Angeles Times article, “South Korean pastor tends an unwanted flock,” Ivie thought he found his way in.

I think a lot of people are converted via the pro-Life issue. There is kind of a clunker factoid in there, that the guy was raised Catholic, but says he then “converted to Christianity” … but even though I am a Catholic and proudly so, I realize this is the experience of many who grow up Catholic - they just never have a clue really about their faith until later in life.

I’m confused about one thing… Did the kid become a evangelical Protestant or an evangelized Catholic?

He became a Protestant. It sounds like he was more or less raised Catholic in name only, or there was not much instruction in the Catholic faith. So that meeting the pastor who created the drop box, and the whole pro-Life issue, made him feel like he was seeing Christianity for the first time. Yeah, I agree it’s sad he didn’t find it in the Catholic church, but a lot of people don’t, so they learn about Christ in a Protestant church, but maybe later he will return to the Catholic faith if he finds out what Catholicism really teaches.
