She is under a lot of emotional stress due to her family. Here is what she posted online:

People just do not understand how deeply their words can affect others, a lesson brought home to me again this week after my friend’s 13 year old granddaughter DID kill herself because of such remarks made by her schoolmates, and she could not face them any more. My heart breaks for this girl, but also she does not realize the completely devastating effect that suicide will have on her family. I am praying for this girl you posted about–I pray that she can get the help she needs and her family come to understand how deeply their words are affecting her. I am going to the calling hours of my friend’s granddaughter tonight and the funeral tomorrow, and I can truly say this is one of the worst weeks of my life, seeing all the immense suffering around me. I will offer up some rosaries for her and all those suffering the effects of such remarks and bullying.

I am guilty of trying to encourage my sister to lose weight by talking about foods I don’t eat because I’m trying to lose weight. The doctor has been telling her for 5 years to lose weight and when I take her to the grocery, she stocks up on snack cakes and chips. I have to keep myself from saying anything to her. Her husband passed away a year ago and had been in a facility for dementia before that. So I know she has to deal with that. We figured she may be eating sweets and salty chips just to spite us. Anytime either of us is around her, weight loss comes up. We finally decided that we would not bring up diet whenever we are around her. We sometimes meet for lunch and of course dessert is almost the main meal for her. It is very hard not to say anything. Also, she is diabetic but says the medicine keeps her glucose level regulated. I pray for her to take care of herself and listen to doctors’ orders. – I am afraid that unless you show your family that you will eat smaller portions and limit the sweets (under doctor’s supervision and diet to follow) there will always be comments. Just decide not to let them hurt your feelings. You are better than that. Unless you tell them, please don’t talk about my weight anymore, it hurts my feelings. If they do not, pray for strength to endure criticism. I myself need to lose 30 pounds that I have put on since Hurricane Gustav. My doctor told me to walk for exercise-here the local mall is where everyone goes-it’s too hot for an outdoor walking path of which there are several.
I can tell you that God made you and he wants you to live. Do not think that you don’t want the life God gave you. There are many joys in the years ahead that you will be glad to have been able to see and do. God wants us to take care of our mind, body, and soul. Don’t let negativity fill your mind but exercise and eat healthy, attend Church, frequent Confession, read Catholic material. Work or study at school. Make good friends. Know that your family and friends have your best interest in mind even though they may not be expressing it properly. Suicide is not the answer. Overcoming our weaknesses with the help of our Lord is courageous. He will get you through this if you trust in Him. I will be praying for you. Suicide Hotline 1-800-273-8255 will listen to your problems and direct you to a counselor in your area.
