In the morning a dew lay all about the camp,
and when the dew evaporated, there on the surface of the desert
were fine flakes like hoar frost on the ground.
On seeing it the Israelites asked one another, “What is this?”
For they did not know what it was. But Moses told them,
“This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.”
Exodus 16:14-15

What sign, then, do you, that we may see and believe you?
What work will you perform? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert,
even as it is written, Bread from Heaven He gave them to eat."
Jesus then said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
Moses did not give you the bread from Heaven,
but My Father gives you the true bread from Heaven.
For the bread of GOD is that which comes down from Heaven
and gives life to the world.”
John 6:30-32

But Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life.
He that comes to Me shall not hunger,
and he who believes in Me
shall never thirst.”
John 6:35

“I am the bread that has come down from Heaven.”
John 6:41,51,58

Given that Jesus’ body was clearly not composed of bread, there is still an out for those Protestants who see these passages as metaphorical. But I would ask those who deny the Real Presence: why wouldn’t the Evangelists repudiate the nearly co-contemporary Eucharistic theology recorded in the Didache?

Look his whole song and dance was. that if you simply believe that he lived the life that he did live (believing that he was raised from the dead helps here), then you should be able to gather the courage to do some of it that he did. He said to ask your father who is in heaven, and it shall be given unto you, etc…

However, to know our God the father who has the power over existence itself, you must ask him, very much like you would ask your own father, to move you. Jesus called this being sent, by the father. And remember Jesus said to store up your treasures in heaven.

If you really believe that God taking you up from the earth and delivering you to some place you need to be ( as was Jesus sent ) would be good for your own happiness. Then just like your earthly father who would help you for the sake of your happiness and well being, The father will send you.

You ask now, and tell God to let you know the moment that you will be moved.

The rules are very simply love god completely, and in your love for someone else ask to be moved. You will know the time.

. The Eucharist. Now concerning the Eucharist, give thanks this way. First, concerning the cup:

We thank thee, our Father, for the holy vine of David Thy servant, which You madest known to us through Jesus Thy Servant; to Thee be the glory for ever…

And concerning the broken bread:
We thank Thee, our Father, for the life and knowledge which You madest known to us through Jesus Thy Servant; to Thee be the glory for ever. Even as this broken bread was scattered over the hills, and was gathered together and became one, so let Thy Church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into Thy kingdom; for Thine is the glory and the power through Jesus Christ for ever…

But let no one eat or drink of your Eucharist, unless they have been baptized into the name of the Lord; for concerning this also the Lord has said, “Give not that which is holy to the dogs.”

Please clarify what it is in the Didache that you think could possibly indicate a Real Bodily Presence…It seems to read like a protestant document regarding the Eucharist, baptism and church hierarchy.

There were a few points that really helped me understand Jesus’ true presence in the Holy Eucharist when I was really doubting.

The first one is that throughout the Gospels, the demons always recognize who Jesus is, and Jesus often quieted them because He knew the people weren’t yet ready to hear and understand who He truly was. Evil recognizes Good, recognizes God.

So, when the occult want to desecrate Jesus, where do they go? They don’t go to a protestant church and get their bread or wafers. They go to a Catholic Church, where Jesus is Truly Present, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. Evil recognizes God.

The second concept is understanding typology in Sacred Scripture – that the Old Testament covenants foreshadowed the New Testament covenant. At Passover, the Jews were required to take an unblemished lamb, with no bones broken, roast it, sprinkle its blood and the eat the lamb. It was firmly stated that they must eat the lamb. They couldn’t make a sandwich out of turkey, call it lamb, and eat it. It wasn’t the same.

Jesus, who clearly establishes the New Covenenant, is offered at Passover – an unblemished lamb. None of his bones are broken. His blood is sprinkled. What is left? To eat the lamb. This is how Jesus Himself directed us to keep the New Covenant in remembrance of Him.

The third is realizing that God’s word doesn’t simply say something; God’s word does something. When God said “Let there be light,” there was light. When Jesus said “This is my Body,” the bread became His body. As the priests, through apostolic succession through the Power of the Holy Spirit, say at every Mass these words of Jesus, the Bread and Wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Himself!

The Holy Eucharist is Jesus. He is present in every tabernacle of every Catholic Church throughout the world, just as He said – “I am with you until the end of time.” I shudder to think what kind of shape our world would be in without His Holy Presence dwelling among us.

Hello Didi,
There were a few points that really helped me understand Jesus’ true presence in the Holy Eucharist when I was really doubting.

This reason of yours seems odd (to me). The others are merely unconvincing. Taking one’s cue from Evil doesn’t sound like a good idea. Let me ask you this: If you placed five plates of wafers in front of these members of the occult and only one of those plates of wafers had been transformed into the body of Jesus through transsubstantiation, would they be able to recognize the “body of Christ” more than 20% of the time? …and what about the faithful? Would they be able to do better than 20%?..I think we both know the answer to those questions and if nobody can do better than 20%, then it is not at all about “recognition”,…it is about the belief of the beholder.

It may seem odd to you, but it had a profound effect on me. God reaches us in different ways! It was only one step to my learning the beautiful teachings of the Church on the Holy Eucharist. It got my curiosity going, and sometimes that’s what we need to delve in and study, which is what I did.
