All right folks, I will truly let you know how exactly I feel (and this has got nothin’ to do with emotional problems)

Take a good read at this thread:

Now after you’ve read that, I would like to tell you exactly how I feel:

We just can’t seem to find the dang truth, really in reality! In different religions, one claims to be the true religion while another claims to be the true religion while another one does while another does but in those religions, they each contradict one another (gee, now what?) and then people are in more confusion, yada yada yada… IT’S PURE PATHETIC! images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/16_angry.gif

Why? Even IF the CC is the REAL Truth, there’s still confusion! [images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/sighing.gif](javascript: void(0);)If you read my last post on that thread, that will tell you that even I’M CONFUSED with Scripture and that part about where Jesus says that He doesn’t know or the Father is greater than Him also causes me to think, well, okay, um, now what? I will honestly tell you what thoughts go in my mind: “Does that mean Jesus wasn’t God?” “Why would He say such a thing?” “Maybe the Islam religion is the Truth!” “I’m confused”. “Now what?” “What’s the CC say about it?” "HELP!"http://images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/10_confused.gif

Really, I DON’T like those thoughts going around in my mind but if they aren’t answered with the real truth then I’m going to be in total confusion and think that we are just a bunch of “accidents” on this chaos planet.
It’s not that I am with this person’s sister who converted to Islam or anything. I just feel that we just can’t get TRUTH the way it really should be. Why the heck does Truth have to be so hard to figure out?

And I’m saying this to you guys so you can know how I feel:
Why would our Lord say such things to cause confusion?

I’m just so confused!

You are taking scripture out of context.

The areas of Scripture where Jesus speaks of Himself as ‘going to the Father’ from appears to be ‘less’ than the Father, He is pointing out that He is True God AND TRUE MAN…that is the greatest of mysteries…that God, THE WORD, became Flesh. Remember, there are also Scripture passages where Jesus speaks of being One with the Father, and when you see Jesus, you see the Father.

Accepting Jesus as The Christ is a matter of Faith. As a Christian, I wanted to be a part of a Church that had the full deposit of that Faith, and I find it in the Roman Catholic Church. To be an Obedient Daughter of the Holy Mother Church means that, during my times of spiritual dryness, I do what is asked of me and what I have VOWED TO DO, despite how I FEEL.

That’s called being a grown up…which I sometimes hate, even at my advanced age.

Welcome to adulthood…I’ll move over on the bench and we can whine together.
 
I do not believe He said that to cause confusion, but to teach us. He was humble, obedient unto death, obedient to His mother, obedient to His Father. He did not view His divinity as something to be grasped at; He knew Who He was, so He taught us more about the nature of that divinity in that statement then a book worth of philosophers.

If I were you I would rread the the passage, read about humility and pray for faith and understanding. Heh, that’s what I should do 👍

Hi Paris.

I think it might be time for a reality check 😉 . You need to accept these three things:
  1. You are now a member of the Church
  2. You are a NEW member of the Church, and are 21 years old, and therfore it is quite possible that there will be things that you don’t totally understand yet.
  3. You should decide now that when you run across one of those things (and there WILL be many of those) you will trust the Church, who is a good mother, to be able to explain it to you.
Paris, right now you are like a child in two respects: you are young(ish) and you are a new Catholic.

You need to allow yourself time and effort to grow in knowledge and understanding. The Chruch is Mater et Magister, mother AND teacher. She will teach you. But it takes time and *patience (*not panic when faced with some confusing bit of scripture).

You wouldn’t expect a freshman in college going for his engineering degree to understand how to build a bridge would you? I’m sure you would be sympathetic to that freshman when he expresses his bewliderment about how those bridges stay up and hold all that weight on them. But you surely wouldn’t be very sympathetic if that same freshman kept on changing his major every semester because he didn’t understand the entire body of knowledge in his subject! You would patiently explain to him that it takes time to learn it all. 👍

You have a great adventure ahead of you Paris, learning the Truths of the faith, trying to wrap your mind around its mysteries (an exquisite pleasure!), growing in faith and love day by day.

As to your particular difficulty:

  1. *]Christ is one person (a Divine Person – the Word) who has two natures (A Divine Nature and a human nature).
    *]All activity of Christ is done by Him as a person (natures don’t act).
    *]However all person’s use their nature when they act.
    *]Christ could use BOTH his natures (human and Divine).
    *]Therefore Christ could say “I and The Father are one” (describing His Divine Nature) AND
    *]Christ could say “The Father is greater than I” (describing His Human Nature)
    *]He is expressing truth about himself, the identical “I” in both instances, albeit viewed in His two natures.

If this is at all helpful, the proof is also in the pudding…

When I was searching for God, I prayed to everyone! 😃 I prayed to “Allah,” I prayed to “Buddha,” I prayed to “Krishna,” I prayed to “Diana, Selene, and Hecate,” and many more pagan “gods”-- trust me, in my desperation I prayed to gods you’ve never even heard of…

BUT…

none of them responded…

until…

I cried out to Jesus-- and He answered me-- in a dramatic, powerful, miraculous, way, no less!!! :clapping:

Paris, I know many, many more believers who share similar testimonies of discovering the truth of our God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!.. yes, the only way to God is JESUS!!! ❤️
(I’m sure this forum alone represents many beautiful testimonies for Christ!!!)

Finally, once I understood Jesus is the truth-- I had to go through about a zillion “churches” to realize my next truth: the Catholic Church I grew up in! :clapping:

You are in the right place-- please keep your eyes on Jesus, “the author and perfecter of our Faith”! :gopray2:
