This is really weird. Please don’t be unkind. You are a Christian just like I am. For some reason I think I have adipophilia. OR the attraction to well, fat. 😊
I don’t know why I have this, but I do. I feel aroused by, yes, big bellies. I know this is weird and kinda creepy, but I need help. I have suffered from inclinations of masturbation, infantilism, homosexuality. I don’t know why. I feel as though I am lost. Please don’t reject me or hurt me, but please offer me advice on how to shake off any urges toward these things. Please.

In Christ

Well, it sounds like you are unhappy. Have you thought of seeing a counselor? Sometimes talking about what you are going through in life, helps to clear up problems in other areas. I would suspect that some of these attractions will evaporate, except for homosexuality. Are you attracted to men? How old are you? If you are under the age of 18, I would suggest that you make friends with others that are gay. Over 18 then you can travel the road towards a committed relationship. These steps would involve accepting who you are. A counselor can help you with this as well. Good luck and God bless.

NO!!! That is not what I want!! I am Catholic. I will not become truly ‘gay’. All I want is help for my current problem.

I think one of the best ways to rid your mind of certain inclinations is to keep yourself busy doing other things. This can be in the form of hobbies, being with friends, exercise, etc, but most of all I would suggest prayer. You’d be surprised how much things can change if you cast your burdens on the Lord. When you are at home by yourself, do not do the things your normally do that lead you to these impure thoughts, whether it be computer, certain tv shows, or routines. If, for instance, you find yourself thinking these kinds of things before you go to sleep at night, find a good book that will keep your interest and read it until you are too tired and can just drift off into sleep. Prayer will help you the most though, as well as advice from your confessor.

You are in my prayers. 🙂

Confession, Communion, the rosary, fasting, focusing on the Passion and riding your life of occasions of sin whether they be objects or people. Then you need to accept that this is going to be a long road and that you will be free from these inclinations in Gods time provided that you are faithful to Christ. Increase your devotion to Our Blessed Mother and Saint Michael the Archangel.

Secondly I would also seek a therapist that is Catholic or at least Christian. Sometimes its good to have someone to talk to that can give you an objective opinion.

@Lostandafraid:
I know what you mean about odd inclinations. I think these are just misdirected versions of true desires that God puts into us (although I’m not always sure what). Praying for you…

Is there anyone close to you (friend, family member) who is strong and knowledgeable in the faith, to whom you have discussed (or with whom you would be willing to discuss) what you wrote above to?

If you do not, and you feel uncomfortable approaching this dilemna with someone close to you, that is understandable. I suspect most humans have at the very least, initial difficulty expressing intimate feelings or guilts, to others because of the fear of being judged, looked down upon, “they’ll never think of me the same way again”, etc.

How about beginning with anonymity first? Going to confession can help clear your conscience.

Though… of course you also have the option of a face-to-face confession. This can be of benefit to you. Then, consider having follow up meetings with the priest – preferably the same priest ( that way you go to someone who already knows your situation. Establishing a familiarity should make it easier and easier for you to open up about subsequent relevant afflictions, if they occur).

You’ll be in my prayers, Lord Bless.

Haven’t we heard this before, just a few months ago? Almost word for word?

Why exactly would you think that the others would evaporate but not homosexuality?

Are you implying the OP is being less than honest? Is that thread somewhere in the archives? Would be interesting to check out. 🙂
