I was feeling fine about watching movies after learning that my Parish’s Priests actually like to watch movies and then I saw this video that makes a pretty convincing argument that it is a sin to watch all movies. Does anyone agree with this?

I instruct marriage prep couples as part of their homework to watch The Lego Movie. It’s about complimentarity in human relationships.

Random YouTubers have all sorts of strange ideas. He got your clicks, got some compensation, no reason to give him more publicity is there?

Given your posting history, you seem to struggle with scrupulosity and the consumption of media seems to be a major trigger for that. Please refrain from asking these questions here and seek the help of your priest in forming your conscience. Stop watching random YouTube videos about this. It won’t help you.

One of the Catholic churches near me has a monthly film evening for the elderly people in the parish.

The Song of Bernadette? The Passion of the Christ? The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima? These are all sinful to watch???

Rubbish!!!

Thank you all for the great responses, I really appreciate it. Sorry about these types of posts, but it’s hard for me to talk to a Priest so I wrongly resort to this.

On the internet you can find someone who says anything. Most of the things that are said are, of course, wrong or silly.

Maybe stick to more reliable online communities and sources until you feel better able to parse the good from the bad?

If I really tried hard enough, I could make anything sound sinful.

I honestly didn’t even know that he wasn’t Catholic and now that I know that I wish I could delete the whole post, lol. If he said it in the video then I must have missed it. Sorry for wasting everyone’s time.

No worries about posting, mate.

If I might suggest: sometimes the best way to immunize yourself against bad sources, is to be accustomed to good sources. The best way to quickly recognize bad company, is to be accustomed to good company.

With that in mind, if you enjoy YouTube I’d suggest listening to Catholic Answers videos. They’re truthful, charitable, and you may absorb habits of Catholic thinking, by osmosis.

I’ll have to start watching CAF videos. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ooh yes. I’m not familiar with Fr. Richards but I’ll second your suggestion of Fr. Mike and Bishop Barron.

I really like the LEGO Movie. Might have to watch it again. If anyone has any other Catholic appropriate movie suggestions, please let me know. Thanks

Thanks for the vocabulary assistance. 😐 I’m typing on my phone and it doesn’t always autocomplete to the right thing.
