One should always receive according to the liturgical norms. I receive on the tongue, though I did once have to grab the host because neither the priest nor I could bend for me to receive on the tongue.

But as long as the church permits communion standing or in the hand, that’s good enough for me.
 
We are allowed to believe certain pastoral practices should be abolished so long as it is for the betterment of the Church.
 
It was also my understanding that particles from the host so small as to not be recognized as a host don’t have the Real Presence. Obviously fragments large enough to be recognized would be His body. I’m curious if you’d have a source on it since if I’m wrong, it’d be good to read up on.
 
Meme itself quotes the Council of Trent. Seems a great place to start…

At our parish the altar servers use the paten, carefully holding it under the chin or hand of the communicant, to ensure that no particles fall to the floor.

It is not very likely since the hosts ae not like bread but rather dry solid wafers. If it is broken there is greater possibility of a crumb.

I find it far more reverent to receive in the hand. I also think you’re creating a problem where none exists.

C’mon folks this topic has been rehashed again, and again, and again. The Church permits either. Get over it. If you feel better receiving kneeling and on the tongue, by all means go for it. I’ll stick to receiving in the hand.

I was taught that when the priest lays the host in your hands, you step to the side, face the altar and place the host in your mouth. No one does that now. They turn and walk away down the aisle while, yes, popping it in their mouths. I receive on the tongue and patens should be used. Neither priests nor eucharistic ministers know how to correctly place the host on the tongue because it is so rare now. My parish has more than enough altar servers, they should be using patens. Just my opinion.
