I am practicing roman catholicism. Do I have to be a part of Assyrian/oriental Orthodox/ Independent /Eastern Orthodox Church to become a roman catholic?

I am not from India but since well I know many Roman Catholics from there I am totally puzzled by your question. Can’t you just join the Roman Catholic church over there? I know some people who were Hindus and did just that.

If I understand you correctly, you live in India and want to become a Roman Catholic? You can just convert from whatever religion you are now. You don’t need to go through any other churches first. If you live near a Catholic Church, just make an appointment to talk to a priest about getting instruction in the faith and getting baptized.

There is the Catholic Church (in union with the Pope), and there are other ecclessial communities which have split from the Catholic Church (altho they say differently
)The Catholic Church has 24 (iirc) different types, so to speak, churches within the Church. which use different rites and have compatible but different ways of putting certain theological concepts.
The “Orthodox” churches (Eastern, Greek, Russian, etc) are *not *Catholic, nor are any “independent Catholic” churches. Being a part of one of those churches would not be on the path to becoming Catholic because they are separate from the Catholic Church.
If you want to become a Catholic (no need for the modifier Roman), just go to a Catholic church and ask them about their program for preparing people to become Catholic.

To be Catholic, one has to join one of the three Churches underneath the category Catholicism. The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church are centered around Kerala and are the Churches represented by the Syrian Christians or St. Thomas Christians that have joined the Catholic communion. There are also many Roman Catholics in India because of Portuguese colonialism. The “home base” of Roman Catholicism in India is centered in Goa. I’d imagine, however, that there are Eastern Catholic and Roman Catholic parishes in most of the major cities in India so it is your choice which is closer to your spirituality.
I’d encourage you to join the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church or the Syro-Malankara Catholic Churches because we already have a huge imbalance in Eastern Catholics vs. Western Catholics but that’s just my own bias. =)

If you are currently practising Roman Catholicism, and you have been baptised, then you’re already a Catholic and you don’t need to become a member of anything else.
