Sorry I don’t have more of a link. It just happened. 18 shooting victims, and the gunman killed himself. No reports of deaths yet…I hope there are none, but he fired into a lecture hall. Pretty tough to hide.

I graduated from NIU back in 1980. This is a huge university, and I know a lot of kids who are there. I just talked to a music professor there this morning about a music competition that I’m chairing.

Pray for us.

This is terrible news tonight. It must be a horrible shock to you. I hope everyone you know is OK. I will pray for everyone involved, & for an end to this madness with school shootings.

I used to shield my kids from everything, but my 7th grader heard about this shooting. She just told me she’s afraid to go to college…😦 Prayers for all the young people.

My daughter goes to a university (not NIU), but it’s down by Kirkwood, MO. She said that if anyone looks like they might have a gun, she is not going to wait to find out. She’s going to run out of the classroom.

Sad.

That really is so sad. That fear never entered my mind in college or high school. It’s a crazy world, but I keep reminding myself God IS in charge…

That’s the last death toll I heard. Plus like 16 or 17 wounded. So senseless.

My labmate’s parents both went to NIU. He and they are pretty freaked out as well. In fact, we all are. My thesis advisor is lecturing med students right now at our uni, and he’s a little afraid of what could happen when he’s teaching. There was no warning for this. There usually isn’t. OUR university issued “Guidelines for an Active Shooter on Campus” after the Virginia Tech massacre. Reasonable, yes, but the guidelines would do nothing to stop something like this. 😦

What a senseless tragedy. May God console the families and friends of those lost.

This is an unpopular view, but I am firmly of the opinion that gun-free zones provide shooting galleries for armed freaks who don’t respect gun-free zones.

I agree with you. My campus is a gun free zone, but since when have criminals and crazy people obeyed the laws?
