Thank you Catholic Answers, especially the Eastern Catholic Forum, for leading me back out of communion with the Roman Church and into communion with the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church aka the Orthodox Churches!

I am so happy and relieved to be joining the true historical Church which has been protected by the Holy Spirit which has prevented it from teaching error for the last couple thousand years. The Roman Church has not had such a protection which can be seen clearly with the doctrines it has come up with in the last several hundred years since the Church of Rome removed herself from union with the Churches established by the Apostles.

Thank you!

Yes James, I will join in the prayers for reunification. Prayers I would not expect to be answered in my life-time because Rome would have to do so much back stepping in renouncing the heresies she currently embraces. Per some on Eastern Catholic Forums, Rome has already begun back stepping in regards to the doctrine of Limbo which is a definate start. Yet, because of God, there is always hope.

Let us refrain, in this thread, from hashing over the differences. Suffice it to say that I trust those charged with the discussions from both East and West to approach the issues in Christian Charity and seeking to do the Will of the Father as Guided by the holy Spirit.

Peace
James

Yes I can see why your leaving… you have such a fine grasp on what the church believes and what are her doctrine.

Peace:thumbsup:

Good luck on your journey, but from this statement above, you wouldn’t have had to travel that much because the Roman Catholic Church is the true historical Church which has been protected by the Holy Spirit which has prevented it from teaching error for the last couple thousand years. Pope Benedict XVI is a true successor to St. Peter.

I am happy to see you won’t be falsly representing the Melkite Catholic Church anymore. People need to stay true to their conscience and God, regardless of where that Truth leads them. Good luck to you.

Whatever you do, pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Hi Lee,

**Pope Benedict XVI of Rome is one of two true successors to St. Peter. The other is His Beatitude Ignatius IV of Antioch. **antiochpat.org/english/sitefiles/viewcontent.php?content=%241%24Fqww80sV%24LJtl/mpIsne5lz0mZ5kCy0_%241%24cY2fEC.3%242X4rjsf3DqIjEbC53bz6R/%241%24Fqww80sV%24LJtl/mpIsne5lz0mZ5kCy0b56a92baa0ee987eb7f7e4a179b60efb&id=1&cat=%241%24DdKoSQCb%24FO96gT8jCFwnHPxW4LNZj1%241%24pCxQHS8F%24GHaBW0fpsqpxYoSn4BE0M/_%241%24DdKoSQCb%24FO96gT8jCFwnHPxW4LNZj150102e124822220aaa78a8e3b2ccba34&catid=3&contentname=Historical%20Overview&catname=Other%20Contents

I am sorry to ask such a dumb question, but I replied to a poster here in another thread, that I thought was Catholic, but now reading this thread, (and being totally confused about it) is it seems that he/she is not. But, I am not sure really.

Is there a thread someone can point me to that explains this difference? I thought Orthodox simply meant “right belief” and I asked if this means something different to a Catholic.

Now reading this, I am even more confused about how christians use the word Orthodox, and I hope I did not sound rude in the midst of what appears to be a very emotional moment being shared here.

Sorry, if the mods want to delete my off topic, I understand.

I just am finding out that there is way much more to learn here than I thought.

I also wish you well on your journey in search of the truth. Interestingly, that same journey seems to be drawing me from the Protestant faith to the Roman Catholic Church.

If you are interested in PMing me re: your reasons for concluding the Orthodox Church is the “true” church, please feel free to do so. Ironically, it is the concept of apostolic succession under the succesor to Peter which, scripturely, draws me strongly to Rome - though you appear to have a strongly held differing view.

Blessings,

Brian

Bizarre that the OP feels the need to make a big announcement about herself regarding this. Perhaps the prayer thread would have sufficed better? God bless you, Christy in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Welcome Home.
okay, this is very confusing. You said: Welcome Home

But, I read your profile, it says you are a Catholic. In some kind of rite (I forget which)

But, this person is leaving the Catholic Church so, what home are you welcoming them to?

I misread it. Anyways, she better Eastern Orthodox than Protestant.

I do have a question, are you leaving the Latin Rite for an Eastern Rite Catholic?

I did not know Catholics were this light about someone leaving their church. I remember my neighbor when I was a kid, and when their son left the Catholic Church, they went bananas. I dont think they got over it for many years either. They said he was an apostate and unbeliever for doing that, even though he did join another church, the Baptist one.
