Speaking of clean laundry i love the feeling of clean fresh sheets on my bed. One of the most simple pleasures in life is going to bed in nice clean sheets.
Tomorrow is the day I wash my sheets. I can’t wait to launder my bedding and put clean sheets on my bed.

I don’t love or hate laundry. It’s not something I enjoy doing, especially with a shared washer/dryer, but it also doesn’t really take up too much of my time per week. I usually use the time to listen to a song or two.

I did have one Airbnb host who clearly hated laundry, though, given that something like this was up near her washer and dryer (maybe not exact image, but same quote):

I wouldn’t say I enjoy doing the laundry, but I enjoy when it is done. It’s the same thing with washing the dishes or cutting the grass. It’s nice to have a task that I can perform and then see the visible effects of: empty hampers, empty sink, short grass.

Of course, that feeling tends to be quite fleeting as no sooner am I done than there are more clothes to be washed.

You wanna wash my clothes for me? I hate it

I love my laundry room. It is very bright white accessorized with an antique hand wringer/wash stand and other antiquities. Naturally, I’ve all modern amenities too.
oooh I do love my laundry and processing
If I had to, it would still be a pleasurable task down on the rocks by a river. 🌊

Be glad to do your laundry for you!

@Donkey, that sounds like heaven. My laundry room is also a bathroom and our house is a fixer-upper, and it badly needs renovations. I can’t wait to get it fixed up - I think I want to go with a rustic theme - I have a toilet paper holder in the shape of a 2 foot rabbit and a toilet brush holder that looks like a frog. I think I want everything to be done in earthy colors and eventually have the laundry room look like a meadow, that is, if it is God’s will. Or maybe a dwarf’s home like in the Chronicles of Narnia.

Yes My youngest daughter thinks I’m weird but I really enjoy doing the laundry🙌

As much as I like to iron, there are only 24 hours in a day so I hope to procure a rotary iron at some point. Alas, they cost about US$1500-2000+ so that point won’t be anytime soon 😬 💸

Interesting. I’ve ruined clothing in a single wash through poor color sorting. You’ve been quite fortunate (or perhaps you wash everything in cold water…?)

I only wash sheets and towels in hot water, and use bleach since they’re white. My clothes are washed in cold water. Never had a problem. I do wash new clothes separately the first time. After that it doesn’t matter.

Gotcha. Cold water washing is less problematic for color transfer than washing at higher temperatures.

I try to sort. But there’s usually not enough laundry to make it worthwhile. Tomorrow I need to wash bath rugs and bed linens. Don’t know if I’ll get to it all.

@Jeanne_S, you’re not weird. Does your daughter do laundry?

@UpUpAndAway, what is a rotary iron? You’re reminding me how nice it would be to have a steamer.

I used to think how fun it would be to own a laundromat!!

Does anyone want to share their favorite ways to clean their washer?

Last night I let the washer fill up with hot water and added white vinegar and baking soda and let it sit for close to an hour.

I have to admit I don’t do this on a regular basis - like once a month or once every 3 months or once every 6 months. I just moved into an apartment 2 months ago and thought it might be a good idea.

I’m moving soon. I might have to do this. Granted, I would hope the washer would be relatively clean. This isn’t a hotel room. 🤢
