Thoughts about Mary

I have been reading a book lately about Mary from an expert on mariology. Anyways, he basically says that Mary is the bride of Christ and Christ is the bridegroom. We are all supposed to follow Marys example and be spouses of Christ. Is it true that Mary is not just the mother but also His bride? He uses the example where Jesus changes his phraseology with Mary and starts calling her “woman” at cana, and at the cross. This word in the original language I guess can mean bride? Anyways, I understand that she is the new Eve without sin, perfect. So I guess he is right, Christ is the new Adam so they would in a sense be together I mean King and Queen. I just always view her as His mother not his bride. Plus, must say im a bit jealous…I always wanted to be His bride, its ok to dream 😉 any thoughts?
 
I was under the impression ‘woman’ was an honorific used to display honor towards a female in the days when females couldn’t even bear witness!
 
The Church is the bride of Christ. We’re in union with the Church and we unite with Christ. Mary is part of the Church, just like we are, and all of the saints.
 
She is sometimes referred to as the Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Because of the nature of the Trinity, you could say she is the Bride of Christ.
 
I can see where she is the new Eve and Christ the new Adam. That makes sense.

Mary is Mother of the Church, as well as part of the Church because she is the beginning of the Church.

And Mary is the Model of the Church. And the Church is the Mystical Bride of Christ, so it stands to reason that Mary is the perfect Mystical Bride. The Holy Spirit descends from the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit IS the Spirit of God. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is Christ’s Spirit too, and we know that the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary, and therefore…

I would put it like this, in relation to the Persons of the Holy Trinity:

Our Lady is the Mother of Jesus Christ.
Our Lady is the Mystical Bride of the Holy Spirit.
Our Lady is the Daughter of the Father.

However, the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity, whilst each is wholly Divine, is wholly Divine but in perfect relation to every other Person of the Holy Trinity. One God.

Tim Staples, an apologist, referred to the Old Testament, in which the ‘Queen Mother’ was highlighted as one of the most powerful people in any regal setting. In the NT, we have the Wedding Feast, at which Our Lady intercedes. So the term ‘Queen Mother’ is really fitting.

Our Lady is the New Eve and yet Mary gave birth to The Word Made Flesh, so…the relational unity between herself and God is like nothing ever seen or gone before.

What is this person’s qualifications?

St Joseph is referred to as the most chaste spouse of The Blessed Virgin Mary In Eucharist Liturgy.

Best answer here is that as part of the Church , the Church being the Bride of Christ, therefore Our Lady is a Bride of Christ , as are we all.

We have to remember that knowledge of the Holy Trinity is known as the Mystery of the Holy Trinity. If we could completely get our heads around it then it would point to a god of our own making.

St. Joseph as ‘most chaste spouse’, does not relinquish in any way, any mystical unity between Our Lady and God. As has already been explained to you on numerous occasions. 😉 If you don’t understand, then why not buy a book, or look at the Catechism, while praying for understanding?!
