If a bad thought enters someone’s mind and immediately leads to a bad action, and the person stops that bad action immediately, would that bad thought and bad action be considered one and the same, and the person would be rendered not culpable, or at the very least, not guilty of a mortal sin; because he stopped that action?

If a grave sin of thought, omission or commission occurs it will not be mortal unless there is sufficient reflection to make it a personal choice.

Perhaps something to go over with a priest. If the action (or the thought that was foreseen to lead to the action) was not freely chosen then it could not have been a mortal sin, so it would depend on that.

It will be not a sin. It only is, if you dwell on the thought or you carry out the thought into action. But then again, it depends on each thought and action, of course, which can vary.

Thanks, these were the answers I needed.
