Thoughts create matter?

I’ve heard from a number of New Agers that claim a thought creates matter, and is measurable by scientific apparatuses and continues outward from the person. I asked for the data and never received it.

Is this a scientific claim backed by evidence or another pseudo-science?

Also, wouldn’t this violate the first law of thermodynamics?

Any thoughts (no pun) on the subject would be great.

It’s called magic and is very silly. You could always get the new agers to try an experiment - have them think really hard about a sack of gold and see if one appears. Report back. 😃

Isn’t a New Ager, by definition, someone who flunked what little science education he encountered? You may confidently ignore any of the drivel that comes out of their mouths regarding vibrating crystals, force fields in Sedona, sleeping under pyramids, or any time they use the words “energy” or “power,” since they do not know what these words mean. Neither, apparently, do they know what “matter” means. They embrace this nonsense because they are intellectually lazy.

You are correct regarding the FLT. Incidently, for entertainment purposes, you should demand they explain the operating principle of the simplest of devices used for scientific measurement when they make their assertions – an analog voltmeter, for example. Or perhaps a hydrometer. Make them correctly read a vernier caliper, and then tell them to quit embarrassing themselves with their baloney science.

Basically only Almighty God can create; although the process of thought I suppose could be said as employing existing material. Interesting question.

I would answer with total hogwash (as most New Age) beliefs are.

But on the other hand they are correct : Thoughts create matter. God’s Thoughts.🙂

By thought, do they mean humans, or God?

If the 2nd, they are absolutely right, as Divine thought brought out the entire universe.

If the 1st, however, they are completely wrong. Out thoughts cannot create matter; or even rearrange it. If they could, nobody’d ever die, as that results from a disarrangement of the material in our bodies.

ICXC NIKA.

New Agers mean human thoughts. But press them to do so and surprise, surprise they are unable.

There`s one type of matter that some savvy New Agers can create with their thoughts: money!
There are plenty of gullible folks out there.

Remember Ramtha?
But: one day Satan will demand the payback from JZ Knight.

Creation belongs to God alone. Re-make belongs to man.

Comical, love it 👍

Reason why I ask this is because a cult leader of a new age movement stated this as a teaching and that is not debatable with his cultists, and arrogantly stated scientists have conducted these experiments and concluded it fact. Few friends are involved, so if I press them to produce these experiments, display this act with an apparatus, and explain how thoughts “create” when physical LAW says all energy (also matter, e = mc2) cannot be created or destroyed in a closed system and given the fact that the universe undergoes entropy and follows all the laws of thermodynamics it is safe to say the universe is a closed system, by logic alone they should break away from this cult given these facts.

I hear something like that a lot from a couple of people that were into “The Secret.” In it there was some line that sounded like some one trying to state the wave / particle duality but came up with something like “Quantum physics says that you can’t have a Universe without mind entering into it, and that the mind is actually shaping the very thing that is perceived.” Now the friends of mine that accept this as a statement of fact don’t have any familiarity of quantum mechanics.

Too many people watch The Matrix and believe it.😉

Only God’s thoughts crerate.
Everyone else in creation is limited to simply manipulating what has been created to one degree or another.

As to those that do not believe human thoughts can manipulate the physical, I believe a good slap on the back of the head should be enough to convince them that my thought manipulated the back of their head…in other words, there is some point where our immaterial thoughts translate into physical action.
It is properly within our own skin.

If thoughts create matter then will everyone who reads this kindly think about a ZR-1 Corvette existing in my garage.

Thanks!

That’s the whole point.

Anyone who believes that their own thoughts can create matter, thinks they are God.

That does not however, create matter or even energy. It only redirects energy and momentarily rearranges matter ( of somebody’s skull and musculature).🙂

And that is merely a human thought.
So what happens when God’s thought slaps you in the back of the head?

I haven’t perfected it yet so it went to another garage and turned into a Maseratti.🙂

I got a pygmy goat with no saddle. I must be doing something wrong.
I think I know how to fix that. You need to concentrate on 2ist century. If you so much had a thought relating to pre-automobile era, the process tends to get confused. 😃
