Well, I did manage to do a lot more appropriate reading these last Lenten weeks. And now Holy Week is here. Family members who are not Catholic are simply looking forward to Easter… dressing up and all that. hhmmm.
I feel that you can’t have an Easter without a Good Friday, and you can’t have a Good Friday without Holy Thursday etc etc.
On this first day of Passon Week I am thankful to be a Catholic in a solid Catholic Parish.
Following the instructions in today’s reading from Philippians, I have found, is quite easy:
*And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 *and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
I used to wonder about looking to the future to do more for the present, and then I ran accross the words from the introduction to Benedict XVI’s letter on Hope…
"…only when the future is seen as a positive reality, does it become possible to live in the present as well…"
In other words, when we have that Hope for our eternal future, we are not so despairing and godless in the present. Perhaps it helps explain the recent rash of thoughless (godless) killings and why those killers had no life in the present.
If you have thoughts about our Faith, I would love to hear them.
