Here is a mass setting beginning with the Gloria then the Alleluia and so on, that has drums, flutes, guitar, trumpet, trombone, and clarinet:

Mass of St. Ann

Alleluia starts at 5:37

I have attended masses that used this setting and thought it was very nice

That’s one of the reasons organ is the preeminent instrument of the Catholic Church, because it sustains a tone like the human voice, it doesn’t strike and then decay.
Wind instruments and strings can sustain too.

@Dolphin
Do yourself a favor. Please take 6 minutes of your life and consider what this guy is saying about music at Mass. Please keep an open mind and listen to his message. It’s the best explanation I have ever seen on this topic:

I have read every post in this thread and have not responded as I have been reading and thinking on these posts.

I will watch the video.

I didn’t like either one of those arrangements. In the first, the keyboard was so loud I couldn’t hear the singing, and in the second, the drums were distracting.

No, I don’t think drums added to the choir instrumentation would enhance it. Drums are better suited for rock concerts.

The organ is a wind instrument.

Most wind instruments can only sustain as far as the player’s lungs hold out. An organ is, of course, not limited in this manner.

The documents are fairly clear that instruments must be suitable for sacred use or made suitable. I have never seen someone banging away on an old guitar or piano to make such a distinction.

Not my cup of tea, but agree that a talented drummer in the right musical setting at Mass could be nice

We recall a drum at a Mass during Christmastime. It was for the playing of The Little Drummer Boy. First, last, and only instance.
