Thoughts on "Live Earth"

I think a big reason that Christians might not seem to be into the green movement yet is that they are putting their efforts into getting people to stop murdering human babies first. A lot of these celebrities think its more important to save a tree than to save a human baby.

At this rate, we won’t need a planet, we’re killing ourselves off.

We can all do things to ease up on using the earth’s resources that are easy, sure. But as far as concerts, movements, activism, I’m saving my voice, time and energy for the human race.

Well I’m a Christian and I think myself and my family are very green in what we do, but I’ve been down that road with the “pop culture enviromentalism” and myself I cannot sleep in the same bed with pagans and radical vegans. No I’m not against people that don’t eat meat. The more you find out about these so-called enviromentalist the more disturbing it is, there are those in groups such as “earth first” whom have no problem in maiming and killing forest workers inorder to “protect” the enviroment and like you said they will stand up for a tree and actually promote the killing of the unborn, for many of them the reason they want to save the planet is for the “chosen few” whom they think they are and a smaller populated planet is thier idea of heaven.

As to “Live Earth” I think it is a con, inorder for the record companies and other media outlets to make a buck while the “carbon footprint” got a lot bigger during that 24 hours of awareness. It gave the artists exposure to say 'look at me. I love the planet, buy my CDs and t-shirts and you can love the planet too".

Just another case of Al Gore and his band of cohorts telling the rest of us peons how to live. Their sermon is “don’t do as I do, do as I say”. They and Wal-Mart have been pushing those ugly flourescent circular bulbs as energy savers. Don’t they know the mercury these bulbs contain are much worse for the environment than the regular bulbs? I think they better make their own homes “green” first, and get rid of a few of their limos and private jets.

I am very strictly pro-life, and every year when a local Reformed church puts dozens of tiny crosses on their lawn with the message “In memory of the aborted babies” I do get teary eyed at the thought of all those lives taken for selfish reasons. BUT I am not a one issue person and I can feel passionately about many causes. I wouldn’t say I’m passionate about the enviroment per se, but I do love animals and find such beauty in nature I want both to be preserved and here to cherish by future generations.

As for being in bed with pagans and vegans, while I don’t agree with their philosphies and “religions”, some issues really do transcend even spiritual divisions. What happens to this rock we’re spinning around on probably should be one of them. BUT I do agree that groups like Earth First and PETA are insane and, in my opinion, qualify as domestic terrorists.

Hope that makes sense. I might seem a little off kilter, but I went through alot of spiritual doubts and then growing in the past year. I’ve had the oppritunity to talk to people of all opinions and faiths, and while I do believe Christianity is the Truth and True Religion, I do understand the opinions of others and have learned from them.
