Hello
I am just wondering what many of you are thinking on the whole Traditional Anglican Communion thing. Do you believe It will happen? Will a new rite be created, or will it be an extension of Pastoral Provision/Anglican Use, or will the Vatican just tell the TAC faithful and clergy to convert individually? I don’t know what will happen, but this is pretty exciting. Many Anglo-Catholics celebrate solemn liturgies and have great traditions. Also, I would be a great opportunity for the world to see the true meaning of Catholic in Our One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. And if a new rite is created, it would cause discussion on the married clergy issue. I think that if God wills it, an Anglican Rite will be created. The Anglicans and other High Church protestants broke away some 4-5 centuries ago. Their traditions may not be as distinct as that of our Eastern Catholic brethren, but 500 years is a LONG time from being separated from Holy Mother Church. I think that if the so called “Anglican Rite” is created, it will serve as the gateway for Protestants to enter the Church.

P.S.-- I hope I did not offend anyone by using the term “Uniate”. I just came up to me that it is a pre-council term, and some Eastern Catholics may consider it derogatory. I have many Eastern Catholic friends, and I love all of the Eastern Churches.

It won’t be a Rite per the current use of the term; their patrimony is that of the Patriarchate of Rome.

It might be a sui iuris church, and while unlikely, I think that would be best for all involved, and would permit them to retain married clerics, and organic growth of their liturgical praxis free from latin episcopal interference.

It might instead be an approved use, similar to the exsting Anglican use; this is less optimal, but still worthy. It would be, in this case, an additional extraordinary form of the Roman Church. It would also make them fully Latin Rite Roman Church Catholics… it’s definitely NOT what they have asked for.

It might be a personal prelature; more autonomous, but still within Roman purview… worst of them, IMO, as it puts them under all the Roman Church’s unique strictures, but also leaves them a spur of unique hierarchy.

I don’t see any reason why something like this cannot be done.
