Thank you!
Good, show, Bebe! You’ve got a group with many members interested in Benedict’s spirituality. I just joined them and I really feel at home!

God bless you and your Spiritual Journey!![]()
Ha! You wouldn’t be the first or last to have the Benedictines creep up on you!I am very attracted to the Dominicans, but surprisingly enough the Benedictines are slowly growing on me. I’ll keep praying and will have to talk it through with my SD.
Hopefully this summer I’ll be able to visit a community, and I’m planning on doing a silent, directed retreat this summer, too.![]()
Carm, have you considered the Olivetan Benedictines in Jonesboro, Arkansas? They are growing, work in healthcare and wear a handsome modified habit, in white. Their website is:I was really seriously discerning a vocation with them at one point earlier on. I love how devoted they are to caring for the aged and poor. I already have my CNA training, and I want to go back to get training as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), and eventually work up to being a Registered Nurse. I am planning on emailing the Vocation Director I was in contact with for a while (Sr. Constance, I believe).
I’ll keep you in my prayers! If God wants you there, He’ll find a way.![]()
Hopeful,I’m 22 and I’m looking at either The Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus or The Franciscan sisters T.O.R. of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother, I’m not sure about either and will be making visits as soon as I can afford to, maybe not until next summer but I will definitely be looking for cheap airfare… it’s a long way to Wisconsin and Ohio from Florida!
Hi! I am 20 and I’m also looking into the TOR Sisters. I’m actually visiting them in September. I live in New Jersey and the ticket was only $159.00. The airport you would be arriving to is the one in Pittsburg, PA. Their convent is only about 45 minutes away from it. I’m also looking into the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal (Bronx, NY). Maybe you would be interested in them too. Check them out! I also visited the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth (Williamsport, PA). I would tell you more about them if you are interested.I’m 22 and I’m looking at either The Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus or The Franciscan sisters T.O.R. of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother, I’m not sure about either and will be making visits as soon as I can afford to, maybe not until next summer but I will definitely be looking for cheap airfare… it’s a long way to Wisconsin and Ohio from Florida!
Thank you for responding! Sorry for taking so long to respond. I actually visited the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George in Alton, Illinois. It was the first community I visited and I thought at one point that I was called to it. But as time has passed, I realize that it’s not for me. Anyways, I did look into the other communities that you mentioned but I’m not sure if God would be calling me to them. Most of them are education and health care and I don’t feel called to doing neither of those apostolates. Right now I am in the process of visiting the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal. I think God may be calling me there. So I’ll post some info about them after the “come and see”.Lina,
There are several in the Midwest that are worth a look:
Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in Mishawaka, Indiana
Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist in Independence, Missouri
Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George in Alton, Illinois
Sisters of St. Francis, Peoria, Illinois
I believe they all have websites–good luck!

Thank you for your advice. I didn’t even see your response until now. The funny thing is that I’m actually visiting the CFR Sisters next week.I would strongly recommend the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal and the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration! I’ve met the CFR Sisters, and they are INCREDIBLE!

I am so envious!!! I want to go to their convent so bad!!! I’m trying to find a job right now so I hope I can make something happen this fall, if not sooner. I thought I was called to the Carmelites, but now I think Jesus is calling me to the Franciscans and was all along. :extrahappy:Thank you for your advice. I didn’t even see your response until now. I don’t know. If it’s God’s will, I will get in contact with them. Thank you!

Thank you very much for your suggestions, but I really believe God is calling me to abandon healthcare since I can’t find an order that I am really attracted to that has it as their apostolate. I’ve looked at several, even the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George or the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration. The Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal are the only that have impressed on me an attraction to their life. If things change, I’d be willing to reconsider the others. It depends on what God has planned for me.( I couldn’t find Carm’s original post)
Carm,
i just came across this order,
franciscansisterspeoria.org/
Franciscans Sisters of the Third Order in Peoria IL.
They are Franciscan; exclusively in various types of health care; and wear a modified habit with veil. They have a blog and facebook page also. I think that they are growing.
The Springfield Franciscans are also exclusively in health care,

…but appear to wear a suit/ modified habit (older sisters).
I think (I’m pretty sure) that there is a CFR sister that used to be a doctor. I don’t know her name but a couple of girls have told me. I’ll let you know if I found out when I go tomorrow. Maybe God may be asking you the same thing He asked of her. I suggest you get in contact with them and talk to them over the phone even if you can’t visit them yet. I know they would be more than happy to guide you even if it’s over the phone.
