Say, it was really great to hear the news on National Public Radio this Saturday morning that Cleveland’s St.Ignatius High School now has around 200 students participating in their St. Joseph of Arimathea Pallbearer Society, providing vital funeral ministry services for the elderly and homeless, men and women with few, if any, living relations.
The teacher being interviewd said this service was one of the Catholic “Corporal Works of Mercy.”
To do him credit, the NPR radio interviewer then insisted that the teacher explain just what “Corporal Works of Mercy” were and how many are there, which the teacher obliging did.
Talk about spirituality combined with faith in action.
