Yeah I heard about that 20 years ago but I’ve stopped holding my breath. I think it was just another scare tactic like Y2K, 2012, etc.

people has been predicting it for years, many people kept saying it was going to be novemeber last year.😴

I use to believe in it, but then i researched it and theres no real evidence of saints/ holy people talking about it, just some people" saying they did" on the internet.Never read it in any books/ no catholic teaching on it.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

Also Jesus said his return would be a “thief in the night”. I think something frightening like the three days of darkness would prepare the world. Which goes against what Jesus said about always being prepared.

Does it matter?
Christ will return to judge the living and the dead.
Look busy. Be ready. Don’t worry.

It’s so illogical it’s not funny. What if you’re driving in your car? What about someone who works a night shift and is stuck at the office? Where do you go poop if you need electricity to flush your toilets? (for those not on city water) ETC ETC

This is part of a private revelation, belief is not binding on the faithful nor is it part of the official teachings of the Church.

I think we will have three days of darkness after a global catastrophe. Nuclear war? Asteroid impact? Jesus’ second coming? Make ready for the coming judgement.
“But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.”

This private revelation does not simply mean darkness, no electricity, severe cloud cover, natural darkness. They actually believe that the only source of illumination that will function are blessed candles (I wonder how those blessed candles will be lit, because there is no mention of blessed matches or blessed Zippos).

Oh, okay. Not being aware of the private revelation, I assumed it was scriptural, though I could not recall such a passage.

Being a rather practical, hands-on kind of person, I would not readily accept a private revelation like that, in which the laws of nature (physics, chemistry) are broadly violated.

If I remember correctly, this was prophesied by Bl. Elizabeth Canori-Mora in the 19th century. Something along the lines of ‘all light will be extinguished and hell loosened on earth’, a time of minor tribulation leading to an age of peace. It could be taken figuratively not literally.

My opinion is that this darkness is a result of global nuclear war. Many ICBM warheads will be targeting the underground missile silos of opposing countries. These warheads will be fused for ground-bursts or may even be ground-penetrating type of warheads. They will raise large amounts of dirt and dust into the atmosphere which will blot out the sun, hence three days of darkness.

Amos 5:18-20
Trouble for those who are waiting so longingly for the Day of YHWH.
It will all be gloom without a single ray of light.

Weren’t the three days of darkness the death of Jesus until his resurrection? It was a time of tribulation followed by the founding of Christ’s Church (which begins the millennial of peace and Christ’s reign referred to by Revelation).

I’ve read descriptions of this, and Dan Defender’s point is important. The three days of darkness are not described as being the end of the world. They are to be a cleansing that leads to a time of peace.
