This is fascinating to me!

Is there anyone here who follows Marian prophecies? Does Garabandel play a part in this?
Do you guys have any comments on what is to happen?

This thread would be better suited in the Apologetics forum, as this forum has to do with Non-Catholic religions. Perhaps you could ask a mod to move it and we could discuss it there? 🙂

In Christ,
Andrew

Sure thing…Mod’s please move this thread to its appropriate place.

I was thinking NCR because I’m not Catholic and would like to hear people who are NC and their take on what I feel is a interest subject.

God Bless!

The Garabandal apparitions and prophecies have never been approved by the Church.

Even if they had been, nobody is required to believe them.

The events at Garabandal are part of an unapproved apparition. As such, we are not supposed to discuss them here in these forums.
They are certainly, therefore, not a part of Catholic belief.

I haven’t read on Garabandel as I stick to the approved appartions. Those that I’m most familiar with are Fatima, Akita and Lourdes. As a former Protestant to whom Marian apparitions were not exactly part of my mother’s milk, it was a bit of a surprise to hear my old Protesant Pastor comment on Marian apparitions that “There’s been a lof of them” and “I think they’re a judgment on a divided church”. He thought God was sending Mary as a warning. But it takes the eyes of faith to accept it.

Personally I also think that God has been sending Mary as a warning. If you read the opening verses of chapter 12 of Revelation, it speaks of a portent in the heavens eg. a woman with the sun, twelve stars etc. The apparition at Fatima for example involved “the miracle of the sun” if you bother to read up on it (with about 70,000 witnesses to boot). From what I gather round and about, some eerie things happened involving the sun at Medjugorge also, but it hasn’t been approved.

At Zeitoun in Egypt (only 40 years ago, and lasting 3 years on and off), which is a Coptic approved apparition, there were over a million witnesses.

Akita, which has the toughest warnings and just after Zeitoun (eg. “You have no idea what is being prepared for you if you do not change”), the statue wept 101 times, and they were real human tears.

But because the church is divided and Protestants in particular take little notice, the warnings are being given and much of Christendom is ignoring them. We’re being warned, and at the same time we’re being judged for our continued disobedience in dividing the church.

No it is not an approved apparition so I would not pay attention to any of its claims, also promoting false apparitions is a banned topic here so be careful
there is no more value to discussing this topic than there is to discussing the guy who says martians have landed

The Apparitions of Our Lady of Zeitoun were inscribed in the Greek Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox, and Coptic Catholic calendars.

This would give them a true ecumenical dimension.

So the approval of a local bishop doesn’t make an apparition ‘approved’, then?

Great post Bob. As a non Catholic and bible believing Christian I truly know the validity of those apparitions and prophecies. In Zeitoun Egypt as you referenced above, even ex President Nassar saw her apparition as well.

There are prophecies outside Garabandel that lend truth to what Mary is saying.

I also believe that Pastor Pio was revealed this too.

Marain prophecies and intervention seem to be a huge factor in the last days. That is my opinion.

Exactly. I believe in Garabandal. Have you seen the video of it? that should convince you enough…there are many years before the church approves anything. You can believe it before they get to.

I’ve always been under the impression that if something was approved by the local bishop it ought to be alright. I’ve never heard of this apparition, but I do believe in the Our Lady of America (Not to be confused with Guadalupe) which has only bishopric approval and several endorsements from other, non-local bishops. However, I would be quite wary of something with no approval from a bishop.

Do you believe in Medjugorgie?

I honestly don’t know that much about it, but as I said, I’m quite wary of anything without the approval of the local bishop.
Well, I don’t believe in Medjugorgie. I use to, but it concerns me over and over as to why these 6 visionaries never sought out any vocations. I also have other issues with it. I was there and I swear something is happening, but I just go back to thinking about their lives when in Fatima and Lourdes they ran to vocations.

Garabandal has not been approved, see link to EWTN answer, citing the local bishop’s letter
ewtn.com/library/bishops/garaband.htm

we could spend our time contemplating the actual mysteries about Christ revealed in the Bible, and the approved messages from His Mother, yet we choose to waste our time on dross. Why?

Several visionaries have prophesied three days of darkness. It will be close to the end times. Things will be pretty bad, by then. It is recommended that households have blessed candles available. The fallen angels will be roaming quite freely. There will be much despair on the part of unbelievers.

For believers, it will be a blessed time, if they recognize what is going on and gather to pray. If I am not mistaken, it will be followed by a reign of peace, although it is difficult to piece it all together.

Again, this is popular pious belief and not official Church teaching. I take it for granted it will happen, though, not necessarily in my lifetime. Some prophecies predict this moment is drawing close.

Well, they may be three days in the sense that Jesus was gone for three days, that is, a part of three separate days. On the other hand, there may be some symbolism in that prophesy as well. A very good question, George. I will need to consult with my friends who are more expert in this area than am I.

But, most who hold to these prophecies take the three days in a literal sense. I will try to provide you with links to more info on it. 🙂
