Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we continue listening to God’s Wisdom coming through the words of St. Louis de Montfort in his treatise on “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin”. Coming very close to the end of his treatise he is teaching us: "some very sanctifying interior practices for those souls who feel called by the Holy Spirit to a high degree of perfection. They may be expressed in four words, doing everything through Mary, with Mary, in Mary, and for Mary, in order to do it more perfectly through Jesus, with Jesus, in Jesus, and for Jesus.:
With Mary
  1. We must do everything with Mary, that is to say, in all our actions we must look upon Mary, although a simple human being, as the perfect model of every virtue and perfection, fashioned by the Holy Spirit for us to imitate, as far as our limited capacity allows. In every action then we should consider how Mary performed it or how she would perform it if she were in our place. For this reason, we must examine and meditate on the great virtues she practised during her life, especially:
1) Her lively faith, by which she believed the angel’s word without the least hesitation, and believed faithfully and constantly even to the foot of the Cross on Calvary.

2) Her deep humility, which made her prefer seclusion, maintain silence, submit to every eventuality and put herself in the last place.

3) Her truly divine purity, which never had and never will have its equal on this side of heaven.

And so on for her other virtues.

Remember what I told you before, that Mary is the great, unique mould of God, designed to make living images of God at little expense and in a short time. Anyone who finds this mould and casts himself into it, is soon transformed into our Lord because it is the true likeness of Him.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. Transform us as you transformed Mary into the likeness of Jesus.

Dear Camehomeforjohn6,

Thanks so much for your “heart” and your willingness to “keep listening” to the wisdom God gave St. Louis de Montfort for the Church. In today’s culture, we need to hear what God has taught His saints! The “spirit of the world” is opposing God’s spirit. The preliminary 12 days in St. Louis de Montfort’s 33 days preparation for Total Consecration is to “empty oneself of the spirit of the world”.

Too few persons, (Catholics and non Catholics alike) in today’s world understand what the “spirit of the world” really means. I wonder how many really seek to understand the Spirit of Jesus. In Chapter 6 of True Devotion", St Louis explains his program of 33 days and begins with:
  1. Those who desire to take up this special devotion… should spend at least twelve days in emptying themselves of the spirit of the world, which is opposed to the spirit of Jesus, as I have recommended in the first part of this preparation for the reign of Jesus Christ. They should then spend three weeks imbuing themselves with the spirit of Jesus through the most Blessed Virgin.
If anyone seriously seeks to answer the universal call to holiness it becomes important to listen to God in Scripture and in the writings of Saints who listened – as Mary did – to all Jesus said and did – and they obeyed Him!

In the past I’ve tried to post on the 33 days leading up to the Feast of the Incarnation (March 25). Each time I’ve made that journey of 33 days, it has been a unique experience of grace. I encourage you and anyone else who is considering how best to renew their Total Consecration or to Consecrate themselves for the first itme, to read the whole treatise and spend those 33 days listening to the description of the journey given by St. Louis himself.

Every soul is unique and unrepeatable – no two experiences are exactly alike but the goal is the same: Union with God in the perfection of Divine Charity! Please let us continue to pray for one another, for the Church and for all those in most need of God’s Mercy “through Mary, with Mary, in Mary and for Mary in order to do it more perfectly though Jesus, with Jesus , in Jesus and for Jesus!”

I love that. How wonderful it is to entrust ourselves completely to Mary.

Dear MagdalenaRita,

Thanks for your “heart” and for your appreciation of God’s Wisdom given to St. Louis de Montfort! Hope you will continue to read and listen to what God is saying to us through His saint and are able to “Behold your Mother” as Jesus told us from His Cross!

Dear Patricius, thanks for your reply – yes I too love those words:

Truly it is a great grace to entrust ourselves completely to Mary, knowing she takes us to us to Jesus – and how pleased He is to see us with His Mother – His gift to us!

St. John Eudes wrote:
Only three Hebrew boys were thrown into the furnace of Babylon, but all children of the admirable Mother of God can enter the furnace of her Heart and dwell there as in a paradise of
delights where they praise and glorify God forever in company with their heavenly Mother, and their hearts are filled with joy and consolation. “'Me dwelling in thee is as it were of all rejoicing,” (12) 0 holy Mother of God.
….
We also notice that the three young men were bound hand and foot when thrown into the furnace, but immediately their bonds were consumed by the fire and they were freed within the furnace. Come, come, poor slaves of sin and of the world! Come, slaves of passion, of self-love and self-will, chained in the irons and fetters of Babylon! Fear not to plunge into our sacred furnace!

Dear patricius,

Thanks so much for the beautiful quote from St. John Eudes! By God’s Grace, nay we “Fear not to plunge into our sacred furnace!”

On this Feast of Epiphany, like the wise men may we “see Jesus with Mary, His Mother!”

Dear patricius and Stephie,

Thank you both for your “hearts”. May we remain with Jesus, living in Mary, always!

Dear CathF, Mark, Greenfields, Katsuobushie,

Thank you all for your “hearts” – it is encouraging to know there are still brothers and sisters who want to keep growing in their love for Jesus through Mary, Please let us pray for one another, and for the Church Universal to grow in holiness!

Jesus told us to let our light shine, and if we “Behold our Mother” truly, she will help us to be as she was in this world : His Light in the darkness!

Amen. May we plunge into the sacred furnace of Mary’s heart, and see Jesus with His Mother.

Yes and Mary herself tells us at the Cana wedding concerning Jesus: ‘Do whatever He tells you’

Dear Dan,

Thanks for your reply. Mary’s words at Cana are very significant, and they come from her heart which has heard and learned and is doing the Truth she heard! I was thinking yesterday of the warning of Jesus:
Hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy about you when he said:
‘This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.’ (Mt 15: 7-9)
So many in today’s world (Catholics and non Catholics) “love the spirit of the world” and do not even realize that it opposes God. They are often deceived by their own desires as well as the desires of satan to destroy the Church of which Mary is the Mother and Model"

People can “use” the words of Scripture only to interpret them according to their own their own teachings of human precepts, twisting words to suit their own purpose.

Let us pray to Jesus through Mary, to remain in Jesus as Mary and the Saints show us.
