When you have your palms pressed together in the praying position, what do you do with your thumbs?

Side by side? Left on top? Right on top?
Don’t know and don’t care?

I recall that there is a symbolism attached to this detail but am vague on details.

Pointers, please…

Hmm… never thought about it before. I guess I usually do the “left on top” 🙂

Folded back and perpendiculatr to your wrists, crossed ventrally, and bend at a 45 degree angle so they point towards heaven.
 
Ahhhhhh, the old “five on five.” Outstanding.

Left thumb on top, of course…

Be careful, that hand posture (particularly during the Lord’s Prayer) scares many people – especially those struggling to hold your hand…
 
They say you can tell what side of the brain you use by doing this without looking, if your thumb ends up on top, you’re right brained (artistic, music, literature, etc…) if you are left brained, you’re better at the maths and sciences. Pyschology 101 in college.
