Reading 1
Rom 6:19-23**

Brothers and Sisters:
I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your nature.
For just as you presented the parts of your bodies as slaves to impurity
and to lawlessness for lawlessness,
so now present them as slaves to righteousness for sanctification.
For when you were slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness.
But what profit did you get then
from the things of which you are now ashamed?
For the end of those things is death.
But now that you have been freed from sin and have become slaves of God,

the benefit that you have leads to sanctification,
and its end is eternal life.
For the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6

R. (Ps 40:5) Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.
Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the LORD

and meditates on his law day and night.
R. Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.
He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers.
R. Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.
Not so the wicked, not so;
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
For the LORD watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked vanishes.
R. Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.

Gospel
Lk 12:49-53

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.

From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” *

.
Jesus did not come to bring peace but division. If you are an outspoken evangelizing Ctholic, you know how much division there is… how disliked Catholics are in the world, generally speaking.*

Our priest said all the readings were about baptism.
He says we died when we were baptized. And now we live a new life,
freed from sin. He says they are trying to bring back a baptism in which
you are immersed, so that people feel nearly drowned, and realize they
died to sin. I wonder if that will work?

This is about the 4th time I heard him read this reading, and everytime he gets to
the part about a mother-in-law and daughter-in law, he laughs. This time he was
really trying not to, but that was noticeable, and it made other people laugh 😃

I have 5 people in my household, so this reading really strikes me every time.

i have NO people in my household except me… and it hits home with me because… that’s one reason i have no peoiple in my household… i caused division a long time ago with family & friends both… by becoming fanatically Catholic… Weird how doing that can show you who really loves you and who doesn’t… IN my case, its NO one… but oh well… just makes me love Jesus all the more… (since He doesn’t judge the way humanoids do)…🙂

If you live by yourself, not only can you get your own way all the time, but you can
follow Jesus with your whole heart, stress free, no arguing about the best way to
follow Him or not. And you can invite whoever you want, anytime you want. You
can create heaven on earth. Well, this is how it looks from my perspective…

I do not like the way you keep saying no one loves you. It is so not true. Everyone
loves you as much as they can, no one is Jesus, and we can’t expect anyone to be.
Anyone who loves Him, will love you too, it is a commandment. And don’t say to
yourself, “So and so doesn’t love me, so therefore they are not following the
commandment of Jesus”. Focus on yourself and ask “how can I love them?”
Maybe you don’t love so and so, because they are mean to you. But if you ask
God, He will show you what you personally can do to be loving towards that person.
Then, even if they are still mean, you will feel happy, because you listened to God.
Even Jesus can’t make people love Him, even though He laid down His life, but He
is still happy, because He listened to God. And now every good thing that can
possibly happen because of Him, will.

i should have said that it FEELS like no one loves me. If anyone does, it is news to me. But in any case, i don’t grieve about that anymore… to speak of. What a person is taught from the early ages is usally what stays in his mind… even when you go through therapy (JESUS) or whatever… there is always this… nagging feeling tht wht your parents thoguht of you is true, even though in your head you know it isn’t… When i am in the REal Presence i don’t feel u/loved at all… I feel sorry for peple who don’t have family/friends or whatever… and also don’t have JEsus… but i know that God takes care of everyone some way or other… and my prayers help all those people even the ones i dont’ know…
