Please tell me what this means. At first, I thought it was an actual swim team from a Catholic High School (i.e. Tiber). However, I am starting to think that it is something more than that. I am clueless about the meaning of this group. Please excuse my ignorance.

The Tiber River is in Rome, and the Vatican is located on one side of that river.

To “swim the Tiber” is a euphemism for crossing over or converting to the Catholic Church.

A couple of years ago, I added the data you see below to my signature and began encouraging other converts and reverts to do the same. The idea caught on, and we proudly bear witness to the non-Catholics who visit our forum that we have been where they are now and have found something better.

Any member of this forum who is a convert or revert is encouraged to add this designation in his or her signature along with the year of their “swim”.

Hope this helps. :tiphat:

Welcome to the faith!

I, too, was always curious about that. I think it refers to reverts to the faith, but not really sure.

Yay! I joined another club. This one sounds cool:thumbsup:

Since to reach the Vatican physically you cross the Tiber river, it is referred to as “Crossing the Tiber” when you become Catholic (revert or convert but usually convert), so the swim team is people who became Catholics 🙂

One thing though. To properly display your faith, you’ll have to remove the Gator stuff from your signature.

PS - I’m a Nebraska alum. I lived in Gainesville when NU and UF played for the national title in Jan 96.

One thing for sure. Members of the Tiber Swim Team have rescued me more than once.

Blessings and sincere thanks to you dear friends.
