It’s almost time!

Who else is ‘swimming the Tiber’ this year!?:signofcross:

Are you giving your leaders or sponsor a gift? I was thinking of asking our nun:nun2: and my sponsor :heaven:to lunch or dinner and presenting them with a small ‘thank you’…

As a sponsor, let me just say that this is such a beautiful time of year. I am praying every day for those I am sponsoring and for all that are coming into the Church. The Vigil is my favorite day of the year - this year is my 11th Anniversary!!!

…Happy Anniversary!👍

I am swimming the Tiber this year. I can’t believe that Easter Vigil is just two weeks away. This has been such a profound and inspirational last few months. It makes me happy that I will be Catholic when our baby is born in July, and my wife and I can raise our baby in a Catholic household. I did buy my sponsor a gift. I bought a St. Benedict Wall Crucifix, and will pick up a restaurant gift certificate. Not sure if we should purchase a gift for the RCIA class teacher though. Any thoughts?

This will be my 8th anniversary! God’s blessings to all of you joining this Easter!

DH and I are swimming the Tiber this year and are VERY excited that the Vigil is less than 2 weeks away. 🙂

We haven’t yet thought about what to get our sponsor-family if anything. We were in their house a few weeks ago and they have SO much Catholic stuff that I wouldn’t know where to begin. Maybe we’ll get them a gift-certificate at the local Catholic bookstore? Any other ideas? 🤷

I am!
Unfortunately I have no money now to get my sponsor a nice gift. 😦 But I plan to make her a nice card and maybe I can find a small cheap butterfly garden ornament (she collects butterflies)

Our teacher is a nun, so we’re thinking of going with a gift certificate to a nice dining establishment so she can recover from us! LOL

She’s given us some sweet gifts during the Scrutiny process…a vigil candle, a cross with wheat and flowers, a plaque for the home…

I know we can find something for her…👍

Try your local 99-cent store. (we also have a chain in our town called Big Lots.) I found a gorgeous dragonfly wind chime for a friend for only 5 dollars. 👍

Also am so excited about Easter Vigil. These last months have been so awesome and am looking forward to being a Catholic and then a husband on June 6th!

I crossed the Tiber in 1983! So I feel almost like an “Old Timer” now! WELCOME and GOD BLESS all you 2009 Swimmers!

I have been on our parish RCIA Team for 5 years as an instructor and have been a sponsor a couple of times. Honestly - I did not expect gifts. I always feel it is such a privilege and blessing to work with the newcomers. And I learn so much every year from all the new people, it strengthens my own faith tremendously. So I will say “Thank you” to all you Swimmers in CAF. You inspire us!

If your finances are tight, but you want to give a gift, I truly think all they would like is a beautiful card or a hand-written letter telling them what their instruction, guidance and prayers have meant to you. Small gestures are sometimes more special!

(One year a teenager in our group knew I loved Snickers candy bars and gave me a card he drew on construction paper and a huge Snickers! I loved it!)👍

👍 Huge Snickers:thumbsup:

Hmmmm maybe our nun would prefer a giant 5 lb Hershey bar or pound of Gouda cheese:ehh:

Methinks I’ll have to explore this further…

LOL

Congrats to all the Tiber Swimmers Class of 2009…May God bless us all, and bless those who loved us enough to help us see it through!
