Ticky tack questions about pornography and morality

The other night i was browsing the internet while watching movies on netflix. There was a story on some celebrities that i didn’t believe. I looked it up, which then brought me to a website with some questionable links. I saw the name of another celebrity, and i’ll admit i only looked her up because i thought she looked attractive. When i clicked on that link it brought me to her “fan site” and as i kinda laughed (because i felt like a teenage boy looking at his recent crush) i scrolled down and BOOM!! naked picture of the celebrity. was not expecting that and as soon as it came on the screen i covered it with my hand and closed the site and didnt browse the interent after that.

the question, is that pornography? is that lust? or am i just way too scrupulous, because i have been very scrupulous lately?

In my opinion you were edging the border of sin. The near occasion of sin.
Next time take a hint from the site having questionable links and back away from the site.
 
If you were out hiking and came upon a naked person do you think that is sinful?

Lets assume that you had no reason to believe there would be a naked person there. Lets further assume you did not stop and chat, invite them to lunch or take off your clothes. Would you say you sinned? Personally, I don’t think I would have committed a sin, but it is not important what I think.

I think the internet is just filled with material that can be a temptation. Even this site. I mean, just look at the topic of this post, finding naked people on the internet. You know, if I didn’t know you could find naked folks on the internet I do now. Doesn’t this site discuss just about every sin imaginable? Is that good, or bad?

Perhaps our lives would be better off if we didn’t use the internet, or TV or cell phones. How proactive do you want to be in avoiding the temptation to sin? When you read this you are only a click or two away from Miss November in her Birthday Suit. Seems like you are pretty close to temptation.
 
You turned it off, right? You didn’t keep peaking at it from behind your hand or pretend you had to look at something else there first. No, you turned it off. That’s what you should have done and that’s what you did. If you were channel surfing and came upon something objectionable, and you just changed the channel again, that wouldn’t make you feel like you committed a sin, would it? Same deal here. Don’t make yourself crazy over nothing. Most of us commit plent of real sins and don’t have to go looking for any more where they don’t exist.
 
Put it down as an “educational experience” at what pops up on such sites. 😉

As I have stated before, the Catholic Church does not regard human nakedness or nudity, per se, in and of itself, as shameful or sinful. Just looking at and admiring a photo of a naked young person in good physical shape (male or female) is not pornography. You did not need to cover the screen with your hand. Pornography is nudity that is Intended to be very sexual in nature. I am assuming that it was just an ordinary non-sexual nude picture of the female Celebrity. I am assuming that the Celebrity was not trying to be provocative or sexual in the photo, just nude.

As long as you do not allow the photo to de-value the human worth of the Celebrity in your own mind, then admiring her photo is not sinful. Obviously, you should not dwell on the image for an hour, or use the image in the photo as a means to ejaculate every night. But just casually looking at the photo for a relatively short period of time, and then moving on, is not sinful.

Both male and female live totally nude models stand or sit in art classrooms, in front of male and female art students everyday. And the Catholic Church does not condemn them as committing any sin. Michelangelo sculptured the seventeen foot tall Statue of David, a young male model totally nude. Does the Catholic Church say that any person who looks at and admires the Statue of David is committing a sin? NO, it does not.

Please stop being so extremely scrupulous.

The late Holy Father said nudeity in and of itself is not a sin. It is a in if the person commits sins of lust say.
To the sinful of Heart everything is sinful. To the pure of Heart everything is pure.
