Does anyone have any info. on the Tilly-sur-Seulles (France) apparitions, in the late 19th century and the subsequent ‘miracle’ in 1901.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

As far as I know they are not approved by the Church unless anyone can refer me to official Church documents stating otherwise.

I have no idea if they are or are not. Here is how you as a good catholic can help me.

Give me a full and entire list of approved apparitions for me to review.

See the link in post#4.

By the way Catholics are not bound by any private revelations, visions, apparitions or whatever even those which are “approved”. We are free to believe them or not.
“approval” anyway simply means there is nothing contrary to Church teachings.

Oh, awesome. I didn’t expect a reply. Well thanks, especially Reggie. Any more informantion?

Why don’t any catholics have apparitions of other saints? Why is it always Mary and no one else?

Throughout history, there have been claims made of apparitions of Jesus, Mary, many saints, and even angels. In the famous (and fully approved) apparitions in Knock, Ireland (1879) for example, witnesses said that Mary, Joseph, and John the Apostle all appeared simultaneously.

Miraclehunter.com focuses primarily on Marian apparitions because they are the most common and because they have had the largest impact on the Church’s history.

Thank you for that answer.

If an apparition is not approved, posting of material from it it not permitted here. Just a word to the wise before someone does that.

Who told you that there have not been apparitions of other saints?
When is the last time you have seen a discussion about any of the non Marian ones?
Out of curiosity, what is the percentage of non Marian ones?

I mean strictly non Marian, not one where Mary is in the apparition with others.

That is a wonderful thing to be curious about, in my opinion. I’d consider you a rare and admirable person who is walking through her daily life, curious about the overall number of apparitions, divided by the non-Marian ones, and then assessing the net percentage. I hope you’re wondering about that for a good reason (and not merely trying to attack something that you both don’t understand and also have no sincere interest in learning about).

On the learning that you can do … some good starting points on the topic of apparitions of the saints would be The Lives of the Desert Fathers, Butler’s Lives of the Saints.
More specifically on this topic, try:
Apparitions of Modern Saints : Appearances of Therese of Lisieux, Padre Pio, Don Bosco, and Others

Or Fr. Michael Freze’s book Voices, visions, and apparitions where he catalogues many apparitions of saints – and non-Marian ones at that. 🙂

(St. Pio, for example, has appeared perhaps hundreds of times to various of his devotees – make sure to include all of those in your calculations.)

But on a related point - Our Blessed Lady often appears with one or more angels because of her closeness to the angelic hosts.

Catholics consider angels to be saints also (St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael, etc) and we certainly have many apparitions of angels, from Old Testament times through the very important events in the New Testament.

So – good questions and I hope this can help.

All the best to you.

Thanks, but woah now. Are the Pio ones “approved”? We cant talk about non approved apparitions here, just an FYI that I noted by the Pnewton poster earlier! I don’t want a nice person like you to get the mod slap.

You’re welcome. Ok – sure. Whoa, Nellie. You should have more than enough to read and reflect upon with the material I provided. I hope you enjoy it!
Reggie, I forgot to ask (insert palm slap here) if you have any stats on the total number of cannonized saints and their sex and marital status.

Sorry, but this is purely a mathmatical thing for me now.

St. Ignatius was a cannonized saint. Yep. He got hit with a cannon ball while in the army. 🙂

As for consulting my well-known sources of statistics on age, marital status and shoe size of all canonized saints … I’ll have to get back to you on that. Aside from your interest in counting various things, why do you want to know?

Meanwhile, I hope you’re getting started on all of that good reading. :hug3:

(I think there have far more female saints than male in the past 500 years or so – but that’s a wild guess).
