I do not know if anyone knows this, but I was listening to Catholic Answers Live this week and the gang announced that Tim Staples has just joined the Catholic Answers Staff!

I personally met Tim in Cleveland this past November at the Catholic Men’s Conference.

I find his style VERY down-to-earth and easy to understand. I alos like his Energy and zeal he has for the Catholic Faith.

Are there any other Tim Staples fans out there who would agree with me.

I have downloaded from ETWN most of his talks that were featured on St. Joseph Presents from 1996-1998 and anytime he has appeared on CA Live.

P.S. John Martingoni is a close second!

Back when Tim was with Saint Joseph Radio he did two or three courses at our parish as a part of my Our Catholic Faith Program. Each course met weekly for two or three months; we often added one or two nights on the end to let him provide added detail. He was great.

I particularly learned a lot on Biblical Types which has been invaluable in my teaching.

I remember that one series was on the Acts of the Apostles, don’t remember the titles of the others. Tim used the book of Acts to prove Peter’s preeminence. Who is the leading character in the first ten chapters?

The notes I got from those courses provided the basis for my 13-week Adult Confirmation Course which I ran twice a year for several years. A lot of it also made its way into my RCIA program.

I have to admit I don’t know much about him. However, this week I was listenting to the radio and they had him on CA LIve, so I learned a little!

He is actually going to be speaking at an Apologetics Conference here in Minneapolis/St.Paul this coming weekend, and I’ll be attending with another friend (also a forum member).

Do you have any web links regarding Tim Staples or his work?

I have one of his tape series “All Generations Shall Call Me Blessed”

The best scriptural tapes I have ever listened to.

I never knew there was so much about Mary in the bible.

I read his book, Nuts and Bolts, when I was first starting to examine my Catholic faith. It was written simply enough that I could understand it even in middle school, but it did so without making the arguments too simplistic. It was one of my first introductions into apologetics, and it certainly got me hooked.

Tim is surely is a wanted man he used to be part of Saint Joseph’s radio then went to Saint Joseph’s Communications and now part of Catholic Answers. Well he keeps moving up as Catholic Answers is the best apologetical organization out there. Well unless he want to go to work for the Cogregation for the Doctrine of the faith under Cardinal Ratzinger. Well I hope Tim stays here for awhile before he goes to work for the Vatican.😉

His tape-cd series on Mary “All Generations Called me Blessed” is the best series on Mary that I have ever heard the scripture, the church fathers, his own testimony as a former protestant pastor make the series the best.
He is sometimes hilarious in his debates as well he is like a pitbull he just overwhelms the Calvary Chapel apolgists in his tape on Contending For the Faith:Catholicism Meets Calvary Chapel
want to learn to debate a Calvary Chapel or non-denom protestant get this tape Tim Shows you how it is done.

I like tim staples too, lets all pray for him and the rest of the apologists (may them multiply); especially our Church. Each one of us needs to become an apologist like Tim and just help the Spirit bring folks back home! Just do it!

I saw Tim Staples about a year ago or so. He was a very dynamic speaker and, since I was raised in an Evangelical church, and was surrounded by fundamentalism for much of my childhood (I’m from Tulsa) I could really relate to what he had to say. Anyone who has an opportunity to hear him speak should do so.

Tim Staples Fans,
He is currently, right now!, on Catholic Answers Live talking about The Communion of Saints.

If you miss the program, here is the Archive link to the page to find the program to listen to at any time.

I and another forum member (JCPhoenix) saw him at an apologetics conference in St. Paul last Saturday—whatta speaker! Engaging, funny, and an incredible wealth of information that he seems to be able to access with instant recall. I am a serious fan now, and told my parish priest that we had to have him come and give a talk for a parish mission or other event. He was marvelous, just fantastic.

Yes! I second what Sherlock said!

He was incredible…very engaging, very entertaining, funny, informative, reverent…and WOW what a wealth of information!

I actually left there feeling ready to deal with anything. (of course I know that I’m NOT ready to deal with any “attack”) That’s just how inspiring he is.

I am now a die-hard fan.

And you would enjoy him. His brother also coverted and is now a priest. I think Tim would fall into that category of learned apologists who are right over 90% of the time. Tough to do!!!

As for getting him to speak… Catholic Answers charges a LOT of money for their speakers. So you will need a god turnout, or an attendee cost, or a healthy free will offering to pay the bill. Go for it.

The one thing that annoys me about Tim Staples is that he is sometimes a bit reactionary, perhaps not always thinking through his replies or listening to exactly what a caller is asking before answering them.

However, in part because of this lack of caution, he is a very engaging speaker, and as others have said, full of interesting information and perspectives. I try to listen to him whenever I get the chance.

i don’t know him but thank you all for the information on where to find him.i hope he is as good as john m. i have some of john tapes an they are goooooooooooooooooooood.:clapping: :blessyou:

He is an apologist and regularyly debates for for a living and besides he used to be a Pentacostal minister how can he help but be reactionary? There is place for Tim in catholic ministry and he is doing a great job at catholic answeres like he has done everywhere else he has been. His style isn’t what catholics are accustomed to in our mundane homilies we get in catholic america. Perhaps our priest can learn a thing or two from catholic converts who used to be protestants. As they say in evangelical circles Tim can preach the Word!

Hi everyone. Did any of you hear Tim’s radio talks on the Papacy and the series on Extreme Traditionalists? Those were also VERY VERY infomative.

Did Tim ever “debate” James White? If so how bad did Tim loose by? James claims he never lost a debate with a Catholic!:rotfl:

You can hear some of the debates James had for free on the internet. He is a great debater too. Now if his opinions were as good as his debating style we’d be in trouble!

I wouldn’t mind seeing that one in person, if it were to happen. I think Tim would have James White on the floor and yelling 'Uncle"!

…and Scott Hahn would talk and it would go over James White’s head.

Now if your allowed to lie and misrepresent your opponents postions than sure James White has never lost a debate with a catholic.
I think the fact that his own sister converted to Catholicism points to the fact his own sister could see though some of his rhetoric.

James White is good at talking scripture and the church fathers out of context to make a dishonest point and if you never checked the facts yes you would think he won many of his debates.
Debates are so hard to judge as to really won anyway as you don’t know if all quotes are in context and we can’t interview the scripture writers as to what exactly they were thinking about anyway.

James and Tim both have been in this game a long time so they both must be good at representing their respective postions.
I just have a hard time beleiving that the true Christian religion came around when the Baptist denomination came into being. James would have you beleive this and this is his weakness no matter how eloquent he states his postion. His postion did not exist until the 1600’s.
