?Times the Canon was Affirmed and Reaffirmed Please?

Hello, curious thought about the Canon of Scripture. A while ago I heard that the Council of Trent was the moment the Canon was finalized and sealed in response to the Protestant Reformation, but now know that it was but a reaffirmation. I then went studying the times in which Canon was first fully affirmed then reaffirmed, and which to catalog every one of these dates for my reference.

If there is anything missing in my list, please help by filling in the gaps, particularly the time when Saint Jerome first rejected(?) the Deuterocanonical Books THEN accepted in light of Church authority.

About 550 A.D. — Decree of Gelasius

? 347-420 A.D. — Saint Jerome (Rejected/Accepted)

— - – 382 A.D. — Decree of Damasus

— - – 393 A.D. — The Council of Hippo

— - – 397 A.D. — The Third Council of Carthage

------ 1442 A.D. — Confirmed at Florence

1559-1563 A.D. — Council of Trent

Those who constantly cite Saint Jerome’s opinion then go on to disagree with him on virtually all of his other theological beliefs, such as the primacy of the successor of Peter, the Priesthood, the seven Sacraments, the veneration of Mary, the communion of Saints and many other Catholic (as well as shared Eastern Orthodox) beliefs. As it is with the scriptures, they also cherry pick their allies - and even then only within a very narrow range of subjects.

Basically, they are saying that they reject Church authority while explicitly relying on the self-created authority of a small cadre of rebellious Europeans 1,500 years after the fact.

You will please excuse me if I fail to see any sense in that.

A salient point here being that certain books were excluded in the process, but none were ever “added” as is alleged by some. To put it nicely, that is a fabrication. All current Catholic OT books have been in use, somewhere in the Church, from day one.

Another point: How can any Christian agree with Luther’s judgment as to his personal canon, since that same judgment, if not restrained by Melanchthon, would also have excluded James, Hebrews and Revelation?
 
The books that actually are declared the inspired Word of God was decided by Pope Damasus at a Council of Rome in 382, confirmed at the Councils of Hippo, 393, Carthage III 397, Carthage IV in 419 and canonised at the Council of Trent (1545-1563) – 46 books in the Old Testament, 27 books in the New Testament.

I can find no reference to any confirmation at the Council of Basel here:

To be honest, I don’t think I knew about the Council of Rome exactly either, what caught me was the same year, so thanks for adding on also. 😃
