My mother loves to spoil my daughter whenever she visits (rarely though, she lives far). Recently she bought something called “Watchover Voodoo”. It looked harmless looks like video game characters, claims that its just a good luck charm looking like a voodoo doll. My mother told me she just bought it in an airport in San Francisco. Shes Catholic too, she doesnt believe in luck, charms, or voodoo. She just bought the doll because it looks like a cute keychain. She told me to make sure my daughter doesnt believe in it though, which I already have told my oldest. It was made in China too lol, which kind of eases me down a bit. I have read multiole threads saying these are safe as long as not used in ritual? Should I hide it from my daughter, I sure hope not, I would hate to break her heart. Just need to make sure.

PS; I just need some of your guys thoughts to calm me down haha. Many of my friends and mother told me that voodoo practices arent mass produced or come from china, and that the name is just a marketing tactic, and that real voodoo practitioners like to do it in secret which I completely agree with. My daughter just likes it as an accessory but does not believe in the “luck” it has. Should I let her keep it?

It’s just a doll to your daughter, it’s a novelty item. Since she isn’t taking it seriously, i don’t see any harm in letting her keep it.
Pretty sure I had some of those, they were sold as “worry dolls” in the past. You were supposed to tell your worries to the string doll and it would take them away or some such silliness.
