Obviously repetition helps. I think writing helps too. For me to memorize it more quickly I’d want to pray/say it just as an act of memorizing it. What I mean is saying it just to say it. That really still is prayer but not fully focused prayer.
What helped me when memorizing in Latin was to try to recite as much as I could from memory. When I forgot something I’d look at just that part and see if that could get me going again. In other words what I found most helped me in memorizing it was actually trying to recall it from memory as much as I could.
