Tired of apologetics

I was wondering if any other catholics on this forum have a similar problem as myself. I love reading apologetics books and materials but when it comes to evangelizing a protestant in person or on the web I get very impatient and just plain tired of their same tired old arguments. I’ve never once read a protestant argument that did anything but make me roll my eyes:rolleyes: I’m not trying to be uncharitable or arrogant it’s just that the catholic faith makes so much sense to me:thumbsup: Does anyone else out there have this hurdle? If so how did you overcome it?
 
Make this part of your weekly prayer agenda:

Sunday: “Lord, grant me humility.”
Monday: “Lord, grant me humility.”
Tuesday: “Lord, more humility please.”
Wednesday: “Lord, bless me with humility.”
Thursday: “Lord, grant me abundant humility.”
Friday: “Lord, did I mention humility?”
Saturday: “Humility please.”

As a born again christian Im on the flip side of this. This is what I have come to realize-

That the catholics I have met here(most anyway) have a love for God and know Christ. They try to follow Christ the best way they can. They just worship differently then I do.

But, we both love and worship God just in different ways.👍

Im not really sure that our theological differences will keep either of us out of heaven.🤷

This line of thinking has done wonders for my Im right and your wrong attitude;)

Plus, if I come across a catholic (name only)I will preach the gospel message of Christ to them. I wont battle them on which church they go to because I dont care. What I care about is if they hear and believe the gospel message. I will only talk about it if they are open to it though. Im not one of those bash you in the head with bible kind of evangelicals. Im more reserved;)

Most importantly, if a catholic tells me they believe in the gospel message of Christ then I take them at face value and let it be and pray about it if I have doubts.

That is the long and the short of it.😃

If you’d like, you can have some of my humlity. I have more humility than most people.

However, I do care what Church I go to… it must be the one Jesus founded, or I would have to keep looking.

Thank God I don’t have that search in front of me:D
 
Apologetics seems to be about defending the faith and not about gaining converts for the faith. The problem comes in defending the faith. It can be a wonderful job but it can also be a boring job. The arguments tend to go around in circles with no winners and at times all losers.

For example, people who attack the catholic faith or the lds faith or any faith are not engaged in apologetics. They are just engaged in confrontation. Apologetists tend to stress defense as a form of offense. This section of the forum is not engaged in apologtics but rather it is engaged in antagonism.

It is that easy. I am a member of the church Jesus founded as well.👍 Thank God I do not have to look any longer either. What a feeling it is isnt it:D

I should rephrase that I care a person go to a church that teaches biblical principles–which we do share BTW:thumbsup:

Actually apologetics is all about Jesus Christ. Apologists should only attempt to show how Catholic doctrine is all Christ Centered.

When one understands the whole of salvation history (or tries to), one can begin to see how each part of the Fullness of the Faith, found in the Catholic Church alone, is Christ centered.

No, not arguements… simple presentations based on reason, and facts. Then God will convert in His time.

It sure CAN be wearying! I try to think about how medical professionals might feel, with one person after another coming into the clinic with sore throats, coughs, sinus infections, etc. – how do they not become bored, insensitive, or uncaring, after seeing the same ol’ complaints and dealing with everyone’s grumpiness day after day? What important work they do! Yet, faith is the GREATEST gift God has given us – what important work we do in sharing it in our various ways!

It sure CAN be wearying! Maybe you should adopt St. Francis of Assisi’s style of evangelizing…

Preach the Gospel always and when necessary…use words.

Thank you to those who replied to my post.🙂 I guess a smidgen of humility and realizing that apologetics very much is a job that requires patience would do me good. I guess the obvious truth of catholicism isn’t so obvious to everyone.
