I have come to the end of my rope, im tired of being treated differently because of the color of my skin, and im starting to grow impatient with justice what advice can anyone give to help me through this process. should i become an activist or should i do nothing and wait for gods imminent justice?
thanks GOD BLESS!
Tough subject. Let me give you my perspective and see if that helps.
I live in MN in the USA that has a very diverse population. Almost every nationality you could think of. There are blacks, whites, hispanic, hmong, chinese, japanese, korean, jews, american indian, mid-east indian and the list goes on.
Before I share my story I must tell you that I am a “white” female, but I have dark brown hair adn dark eyebrows and dark green/brown eyes and dark skin (for a white person.)
I was walking in downtown Mpls one evening when a white man (with blond hair) verbally attacked me. He yelled “Look at you,you f_ckin’ piece of sh_t Jew!” to which I looked around and didn’t know who he was talking to because we’re pretty sure that we are Polish. He continued to get into my face with his finger saying “You look like sh_t…blah blah blah” His friend who was with him was black.
Do you know that I was a woman, alone being attacked by a white man who was with a black man for being “Jewish” and not one single man on that street stepped up to help me or stop him? Not a single one.
I didn’t know what to do. All of a sudden I heard a girl on a cell phone behind me say “Oh hell no” and hang up. She got in the white guys face and yelled at him until he apologized and left. It turns out that this girl was American Indian and Cuban. We became friends and have been friends now for 5 years. Prior to me she hated white people because she didn’t realize that we were discriminated against also.
My point is that it happens to ALL of us. Even those people whom you feel are discriminating against you. I could tell you many more stories of myself being attacked for being white, another attacked because a black and white got together, and more about hispanics and asians and handicap, and one for being fat another for wearing the wrong color shirt. No ONE is immune to it. It happens everywhere all the time.
I know it is hard to take for yourself but remember this and offer up your own suffering for God. Keep your chin up!
With sincere compassion.
