If man created all these religious and theological barriers, is it man who is supposed to dismantle them? Or is it God who is to bring them down in His own time?

In other words how and when will all of this Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Nazarene, Assembly of God, Church of Christ, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox etc etc etc, come to an end?

Anyone have anything more to add?

Just what I expected,

Such a profound observation and no one has anything to say about it, how typical…

Another thread bites the dust I guess.

It wasn’t that profound.

The One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church is founded by Christ. The rest were made by men.

So when will it all come to an end? I don’t know: when will people who hold falseness to be truth understand their error?

Another way of putting it is: how will God allow their error to be understood as such by them?

Just as man has to dismantle the nuclear weapons he made if he wants to be rid of them, man will have to dismantle the Protestant denominations he made.

It’s not God’s responsibility. We are the ones who mucked things up when we ate the apple.

When will we be free of them? I don’t know. Might not be in our lifetime. There are a lot of problems in this world that might not be solved in our lifetime. This world aint perfect and there’s not a hell of a lot me or you can do about that.

But then again there are good things in the world too. Religion isn’t always a bad thing - for example, the Catholic Church is a good thing, and it actually unifies people and helps to guide society along the right path. Things would be better if everyone was Catholic.

So yea, what we can do is not let problems in the world get us down, and just persever in what we know to be right in spite of any problems facing us in this world.

I think its a great observation! Its something God is putting on your heart I know its on mine. My heart breaks to see believers in Christ pick at one another. Born out by responses to your question.

If anything should be dismantled its our hate, pride, prejudice and evil to one another. If we tried to see each other as Christ sees us, no matter what we are.

Honestly this whole attitude of whos more right than the other is keeping people who dont believe in God away, and those that do because they dont subscribe to our clubs rules then theyre out! This keeps people away from not churches, but God.

There were 7 churches in Rev, they all had different problems. But I dont remember God toasting them, He instructed them on how to strive to follow Him. To answer you, in the end, like the seven, the churches you state, are supposed to be one church following Christ. This will happen by Christ dismantling us and forming us to be like Him. 🙂

Trust me, the guys that founded those religions already know that they screwed up. Purgatory is a very compelling place. When a person started a denomination other than the one Christ set up himself, how do you think God is going to feel about that? I imagine that he was pretty disappointed.

Lets not forget the Old Testament (Covenant) of the Jews was instituted by God Himself.

And of course Eastern Orthodoxy.
Right,

Which begs the question who came first? When I research this question more the more the answer illudes me.

Well, we ARE the religion founded by Christ…so I think we can say yes to that.

Same thing Eastern Orthodoxy claims, and I honestly don’t know who is right. And believe me, I have been looking into this.

That is ok. Let’s remember that Catholicism was there well before the Eastern Orthodox. In fact, like the Protestants, they broke off from us.

Just as Eastern Orthodoxy says about Catholicism.

Until I find a reference for a Roman Pontiff in antiquity (pre-1054) who appointed a patriarch for Constantinople, Antioch, Alexandria or Jerusalem, I may very well see things your way.

Needless to say, I now wish I knew a way to change my screen name.

Now, we were all in union at one time. And we were known as both Catholic and Orthodox. ie Catholic in faith, Orthodox in belief. We are still Catholic even though we are now know as Orthodox. But this is for another forum. Try reading up on the ancient church history and the Eastern churches both prior to and after the schism.

I am aware that the Catholic and Orthodox Churches were one at one time. But how was the Church prior to the schism set up, and who was in charge or who wasn’t? With that I am most interested in in pre-schism Church history, and I will definitely be looking into some unbiased secular sources about this.

Of course. Anyone who is being intellectually honest knows that the Catholic Church was founded by God in the flesh.

Careful. If you suggest that, he will move closer to Rome. 😃
