Anyone else tired of this subject?

It’s being drilled to us to the teeth in the media, and all this stuff gets endlessly presented here. I’m tired of it. I don’t think many people at this point are likely to be changing their minds anytime soon. . . in fact, the opposite, a backlash, is likely.

I’m feeling “homosexual agenda fatigue”. Anyone else?🙂

I felt it when it first became a “major church issue” 4-6 years ago.

This is the only place that I even hear the topic brought up on a regular basis. In all other facets of life, it is what is really is, a non-issue and nobody talks about it.

Yet, as long as it comes up here I need to let my voice be known.

Homosexuality has been a “major church issue” since the beginning. It is mentioned by the Apostles in the New Testament.

That’s probably because you surround yourself with people who don’t accept the Church teaching on the subject. The same can be said about Artificial Birth Control. It doesn’t stop being a sin, just because a lot of people have decided the Church is wrong. That just means there are more apostates.
Yet, as long as it comes up here I need to let my voice be known.
Ditto here. My advice to Maxply is to avoid reading them. There are subjects I’ve stopped reading and responding to. And, as was suggested to another poster on the subject…don’t start a new homosexuality thread, if you are “tired of the subject.” 😛

I’m really sick and tired of gay topics especially in the media. I cant’t hardly watch a TV show now days without that subject blaring me in the face. I feel so sorry for our youth today having to grow up in this environment. It’s so sad:(

Being in the middle ground I am aslo tired of it. Distorted statistics and misperceptions from both sides of the issue. There are many chaste homosexual people who are telling the right and the left “leave us alone”.

👍

I came here because I hoped I would find others like me. People who are living the teachings of the Church despite SSA. There really aren’t a lot of places where someone like me can find support and I’m thankful for it.

I agree with the others-if you don’t want to read about gay issues, don’t open the thread.

Actually I am finding them a bit of a nice change from the abortion topics and from the Muslim and Mormom topics on NonCatholic religions list.

I love how this is a thread talking about how tired everyone is of threads relating to gay stuff. 😉

That said, I’m a little tired of it too, but I totally understand why it’s been a bigger issue lately after the Folsom fair, the communion of the “sisters” of perpetual indulgence, etc.

There’s two really bad things about the topics.

First, it gives heretics a chance to exhibit false “tolerance” and misplaced compassion to mask their defiance of church teaching – in general, not just on this topic. The issue is a lighning rod for defiant Catholics.

Second, it virtually never highlights the heroic efforts of those people who carry the cross of same sex attraction, and have come to live a life of Christian chastity.

Blessings,

Gerry

Tha’ts because people who ARE SSA and are trying are frequently confused with the first group mentioned here.

Little thing I’ve noticed… there are three prevailing opinions on the subject.
  1. It’s fine.
  2. It’s not fine.
  3. As long as you don’t act on it, it’s okay.
Threads on homosexuality aren’t often started by people in group 1 – it’s a once in a blue moon occurrence (I’m probably one of the most vocal proponents of the Gay Agenda here, and at last count I’ve started one thread about a state constitutional amendment). That leaves the rest of you guys.

Your move. If you don’t want to read about it, well, we aren’t the ones bringing it up all the time.

I don’t even look at the Non-Catholic Religions forum anymore. I admire your fortitude and persistence! 👍

But, yes, I agree with the consensus. If a thread looks to be more trouble than its worth, then it isn’t worth troubling over.

The Church’s teaching itself discourages such “highlighting.” What’s the point of opening up about something like that?

I’m not sure what you mean by “discouraging such ‘highlighting.’” How does Church teaching discourage that?

It is helpful to others who are dealing with same sex attraction to hear testimony from those who are dealing with it successfully and living a chaste life. There are many apostalates that help deal with a host of issues that fellow Catholics deal with.

Then how do you explain the Catholic group Courage, whose chapters can be found in many, many Parishes?

This is a very dubious assertion. I have never encountered a single teaching of the Church which discourages highlighting the struggle to live a chase life – for all Church members – and am pleased to be able to report that the topic is not at all an unknown one with respect to homilies in our parish.

Actually, I’m lucky to have access to three Courage groups and can tell you that they’re not exactly advertised by the parishes where the meetings take place. If a person wants to know about a Courage chapter, they would have to go tot he Courage website and use the contact list on the website. When Courage has advertised, they give the website, not a phone number or parish contact.
