I wanted to ask about all advent traditions and how to go about celebrating them. From my own research I have found stuff I never have done in my past which I plan on doing now on. I hope that others can contribute to this thread with questions and answers about how to more fully celebrate the coming of our savior!

some things i have found are

-Advent wreath.
-Christ candle.
-Mary candle.
-Jesse tree.

I begin the thread with a question about the nativity scene. It is my understanding that we set up the manger on the 1st day of advent and we place the Mary and Joseph far off and move them ever closer to the manger until the eve of Christmas which is when we place them in the manger and Jesus and all the rest of it. I was confused by something I read that talked about the** feast of the epiphany **. it said that the eve of this feast the twelthnight of Christmas is when the wise men are supposed to bring their gifts to Jesus and also that is when we are supposed to crown baby Jesus or wrap him in purple to symbolize his divine royalty. I’m confused in that I thought Jesus was not supposed to be born until Christmas eve so how can he be in the manger on the twelfth night of Christmas?

I hope someone understands what im saying and can help me get a clearer idea about it.

Simple! The feast of the Epiphany is on January 6th, so the “Twelve Days of Christmas” run from December 25 (Day 1) until the eve of January 6th (Day 12). Put baby Jesus in the manger on Christmas, and put the Wise Men in the Nativity scene on the 6th.
 
Try doing some traditions started by your own heritage too. I enjoy our polish traditions. Ask older realitives what they did when they were young.
